If onw shoes stick to the street, one should probably not go crossing the street and seek ways to cool down. Just a thought.

Going and cooling off in the Ganges or Yamuna River is not a pleasant thought, either. Lest I be accused of being nationalistically discriminatory, the Chicago River or Ohio River ain't that great either.

Public service: 30C = 86F, which I think is quite moderate!
Of course, where I am (San Francisco Bay area) does not normally contend with high humidity. I do recall being in 85F and 100% humidity during a business trip many decades ago in Virginia, and it was horrid.
Back then white shirts and ties were customary business attire, and I recalled exiting the hotel to my rental car, and all of the creases which had been carefully pressed into the shirt almost immediately vanished during the short walk to the car.
Today's weather forecast for Phoenix Arizona is 118F or 48C, 10% humidity

I was trained in Palo Alto during 1998 summer. 110F, no humidity. Fine. One day I went out and turned on AC in rental car to cool it before training ends. It engaged doors lock later on. I went to work in Tashkent during chila season as well. 110F+ and same low humidity as in Arizona. It was also fine. High humidity makes it worse, it seems. Where we are it gets above 70% in couple of summer months (Great Lakes effect). And it just awful to be active outside.

If you can walk in it instead of on it, it is still classified as a river. Health considerations are something else again.

And there are my memories of LA air from about 45 years ago... if you sliced it and chewed it, it was less painful than taking a breath.

LA is clear proof of how our efforts to reduce air pollution has paid off.

I'm still getting out in the early morn when the temps are only 85-95F (was 100F when I went to bed last night!) But, when the mercury gets close to or tops 115F, as we've seen for several days now, I don't go outside...period! The drought, though I wish this wasn't a problem for most (all?) of the southwest, hasn't affected me...yet; water restrictions probably aren't far off.

It hasn't gotten really hot here yet-- high today was only 87F (30.5C)... but the humidity has been at least 65% all day. By July the humidity will be the same-- but the highs will be pushing 100F (37C).

Then you get the random thunderstorms that last 30 minutes, drop half an inch of rain, and turn the air into steam.

Our local temperate rainforest is very happy so far this year. Weeks of drizzling rain, fresh snow on higher peaks, fall mushrooms popping up, and deciduous trees that haven’t quite greened up yet.

Nope...no problem with heat.
I'gotta get away and get to where you are - wherever that is....

I'm down the coast from Murray - definitely a different micro-climate, although still part of one of the most temperate parts of the world.
It was up to as much as 24C here today near the water, but it is currently 20C.
The palm trees at the entrance to our community are comfortable.

Heat/Drought, Affecting Your Shooting? Ha Ha! It is cold, 13 degrees, and wet. Last week was hot - over 25 degrees some days - and mostly dry but not this week. I didn't leave the house yesterday for the wet and haven't done so yet today but I have to meet my daughter for a coffee at 5 so must go out then.

No, it is not affecting my photography.

We have 60,000 bicyclists coming to town today. Hottest weather in 10 years. RAGBRAI annual bike ride across Iowa. Hopefully we can make everyone feel comfortable.

I don't know how some of the people are dealing with things. I grew up in the upper mid-west. I have quite a few below zero days under my belt. I've also seen active-duty military service in 114 F. I'm just around the corner from 50 years old. If it gets rainy and near freezing, I fall apart. If it gets above 75 I fall apart. So yeah, not much shooting going on from me, and we've had it pretty good in Seattle so far this summer.

I have not been impacted by the current hot weather in the northern hemisphere, living near the coast in Southern California. Its a tough life, but someone has to live it so you can live where you choose. So remember to thank me.

Although in continental Europe especially southern Europe have been experiencing super hot temperatures recently, thankfully in Britain since the beginning of July we have had torrential rain almost every day .

Here in the Phoenix metro area, up to 30 days over 110, something like 9 days over 115, nighttime low, highest at Sky Harbor Airport was 98, most days over 90, so yes, just too hot to even walk in the Zoo or at the Botanical Garden which is losing catatus due to the heat.

100 degrees @ 65% humidity makes everything look very uninteresting through a viewfinder...

I still go out. I spent about 2.5 hours in the desert today with the 4x5 Arca. It was about 105 out, so not nearly as bad as Phoenix. Bring plenty of water, and some shade.

I'm in Japan dealing with the hottest Summer they've had in a decade. The humidity kills! I've managed to do some photography, although it's tricky when you're drenched with sweat and those pesky little skeeters are dive bombing you! I was in a bamboo forest and the humidity was so high, my lens fogged up!

Here in Paris the weather has been great with the occasional hot day, but nothing extreme. I usually cut down on street photography in the summer 'cause I despise the heat, but I've been going out a lot this June and July. Now, when I visited Italy (Pisa) a couple of weeks ago...I didn't do nearly as much walking as I usually do. It was an oven.

Are you putting it off, or braving conditions? 'Specially in places from Arizona up to Montana - anywhere else....

Well, not so bad here in Montana. It’s always pretty dry so even 95 degrees is tolerable. It hasn’t impacted any of my activities and I’m still out running 25 miles/week or so, usually in the mornings but sometimes early evenings. The real escape it to ride my motorcycle to the top of Beartooth Pass, just under 11,000 feet and 96 miles from my driveway.

Good to hear you're still at it, and motorcycle + mountains = Fun Fun Fun!!!

It wasn't the weather controlling me for the last while. I got up to 67 Km (41 miles) running per week, then got put on a medication that had me stay inside (zero sun exposure) for 52 days, and was told not to exercise.

Started 'running' again two weeks ago and managed to 1/2 run, 1/2 walk a whole 2.5 Km which got my heart rate into zone 3. Sad. Two weeks later I'm up to 4 Km (no walking) and the heart rate is going lower, so back on track again.

Reassessed my goals and have dropped the 50 Km dream and will run about the amount you are, where fitness is good and can push out a respectable (in my 60+ age group world!) 1/2 marathon trail race whenever the opportunity pops up.

Rains have finally come here. Has been very dry; so much so that you san see through mature alder trees because of all the leaves they've dropped.

I’ve done two full marathons and have that curiosity out of my system. My wife and did halfs together but due to recent back surgery she’s transitioned to walking and I’m not motivated to do another half. I still have lots of 5Ks and 10Ks though. Yesterday I ran a 5K race and placed first in my age group, 70+, on a 9:33 pace. In November I’m headed to Pittsburgh, PA for a 10-miler through that city.

When it come to weather, I’m not a fan of heat but it doesn’t slow down my photography, however, our Montana winters do. While I run outside here all year, when it’s down to -5 degrees F I’ll still run but less likely to take out a camera.

So that brought you in under 30:00 in the 5K? Hope I have legs like that in my 70's 👍

I find road running, especially anything past 20K mind numbingly boring...trails are waaaay more entertaining.

Did my first official 1/2 marathon trail race last year that had about 3,500' in elevation gain, so pretty easy-peasy in the scheme of things. Loads of fun. Ran most of the race behind a lady with lots of experience. She disappeared on the downhills, I caught up with her on the flats, and we were even on the uphills. Learn a lot from her that day! Came 1st in my age group as well, but I checked the course records and if that guy had turned up he would have beaten me by 30 minutes. YIKES!

Mostly I putz around, with local solo projects.

If I ever roll through your area I'll send a PM...maybe we could go on a mountain romp and/or afternoon camera hike.

Oh, and too bad/sorry about your wife. Life has a way of getting complicated. My wife & I used to sea kayak until a car accident wrecked her shoulder and the rules to the game of Life got modified...we bought a boat.
