Are Arista Edu papers rebranded Foma?

I think it is Foma. But I use it and it's not bad paper. It's neutral to warm tone and tones very well. Have you tried it?

But the VC FB paper looks good to me. I also have some Ilford VC FB. I should do a test with the same neg.

I've never found that different manufacturers paper could use the same processing always needed oodles of test strips...

I did this same test myself and agree - no comparison, I prefer the Ilford.

But since then I've gone to only really using RC for contact sheets.

How did you reach this conclusion? By using the same exposure for both? Or by taking time to actually test them, exposing and developing them to reach approx. same contrast?

Also, what is thinner tonality?

FREESTYLE made the prints, about 3"x5'in size. They were THEIR finished prints, & FS did all the processing. THEY said they used the same dev & times for both. They were trying to prove how "GOOD" EDU was compared w?Ilford, & costing less money. But they couldn't fool an experienced eye like mine. "Thinner" tonality is NOT as full & rich a tonality as you would expect from a major paper.
