It's now only two weeks until APUG's Fifth Anniversary. Huge congratulations to Sean for making it this far and for all the help and support he and this site have provided to traditional photography (and photographers). Likewise, many thanks to the Moderation Team for their role in keeping APUG such a good place to hang out!

In past years we've celebrated the Anniversary with a shoot on the day and images posted subsequently in one of the Galleries.

What do you reckon? Anyone up for it?

I would like to see it as a special gallery, for all members, regardless of subscriptions status. Perhaps, limited to one or two pictures per member.

Sounds great. It's hard to get my head around the fact we've been running for 5yrs. The circle of support within the community is amazing (content, financing, volunteer moderators and council members). The membership have made this site a success

We did this a couple of years ago, I think I posted a photo called End Of Season. Be great to do it again.

Maybe we better hope than not all heed the call. Let's see - that 20,000 members at 2 pictures per member. Could be like the 1 million monkeys on 1 million typewriters and the complete works of Shakespeare. It's the law of large numbers. Out of it we produce say 10 shots that makes the "greats" look like point and shoot first time digi users.

I think a birthday party shoot would be fun.

Not sure if I'd want to require including the APUG logo. Seems as if simply shooting in film should suffice?

Would be fun if the number 5 figured into it somehow. I'm game for whatever. On film, of course.

Great idea, erikg.

Yeah! Like a shot of a shot next to a fifth of whiskey (or other name your favorite poison) in the the foreground!

Oops, just gave away a great idea!

The theme of "5" seems like a good idea to me (wish I'd thought of it!), but any shot made on the 7th September would be valid (IMO).

A '5' theme. Sounds like a good idea. Whatever we come up with, It's an anniversary worth celebrating. Best wishes to Sean and all the Mods.

Perhaps people could come up with a theme for themselves? I could pop down the M4 for example and shoot Lacock Abbey (former home of William Henry Fox Talbot) as I did a couple of years back, or someone in Paris could replicate an Atget photo, or pick one of the previous suggestions above, or come up with their own.

Alternately, just shoot anything you like and mentally dedicate it to the APUG anniversary...

Cheers, Bob.

How about using Hasselblad V series for the celebration?

Good timing. I'll be up on the North Shore of Lake Superior for a gathering with other APUG members. The anniversary was unbeknownst to me, so I don't have to do anything really, just continue shooting as I had planned in the first place!
I guess we could celebrate in worse fashion!

I thought this year I'd do something different. So no all manual camera and not bw, I'll be using my F80 and Kodak VR400.
