Best to just wait, this way it will be easier to track everything, thanks

Sean, looking forward to the new site. The PayPal arrangements sound ok to me, thanks for all the work.

Paypal is very secure, but there will be alternate methods available for sure.

My PayPal account was hacked into about a year ago. I'd done two things wrong: I used the same password as I had used on a forum somewhere, and I had stored my credit card number in my account. Evidently someone had hacked the forum, figured out my email and password, then tried PayPal. He went on a bit of a shopping spree that included a Dell computer. Dell called me to say they suspected the order and could I check on it.

I still use PayPal when I must, but with one-time-only credit card numbers and a heck of a lot more secure password.

I'll have it setup for 3, 6 and 12 month subscribtions at $1 a month. In the forums you'll be listed as a "Member", if you decide to subscribe you click a link, subscribe, it automatically takes you to paypal, then brings you back to the site, and once back at the site your "member" designation changes to "Subscriber". When your subscription is almost up it will notify you. It's optional and I think a reasonable rate.

That sounds like a bargain to me. I am one of the dinosaurs who refuses to use a credit card on the internet. I hope there will be alternate methods of payment. I will gladly send a money order or bank check for a one year subscription if you will supply a mailing address. Thanks for the super website.

there will be alternate methods, definitely.

As part of the new site and it's FAQ, I was thinking of adding a page to the FAQ titled "Myths of Traditional Photography". It could discuss many points that some folks gripe about, such as "Traditional Photography is bad for the environment", "Traditional Photography is full of smelly chemicals and too hard to learn for most people", "The chemicals and fumes are dangerous", etc etc. If anyone would like to contribute some insightful discussion on this to be added to the FAQ or you have other questions you can answer, please send them to me using the PM (personal Message) tool in the forums. Thanks!

*update*

On schedule with the new site build, so next weekend is looking possible. I was going to post a few screens but think I'll just wait and surprise everyone. I hope no one has issues with neon pink and purple? -kidding..

Don't forget the lime-green flashing text and rainbow dividers (my favourite!)!

*update*

It's around 85% complete now, and the last 15% is getting very tedious. Looks like I'll need to push it out another week, so will shoot for weekend of the 23rd..

Sean, that's just unacceptable!

Take as much time as you need; don't bogged down, too much, we all know you have an actual job, too!

lol, yeah the 'actual job' is to blame for the delay, it's been hectic.

lol

-Brian's referring to the new off-topic area which will be converted into "The Lounge". It will be a little more fun and includes an integrated video arcade that allows members to compete against each other while their prints dry.

Make one FB print and you can play arcade games for 24 hours!

*update*

Things are going well, just a minor setback: The new importing scripts were released which will be needed to import the old forums to the new. This script requires a *just* released version of the new forum software! -ugh- So I've had to manually upgrade the new forum software (about 100 files) so I do not loose months of work. Upgrade to this new importer compatible version should be complete this weekend, then will spend the following week or two finishing up the new site and go for the changover. Some of the delays are from the pesky 'real job' getting in the way..

I don't see a lot of irate APUGers complaining that the change is slightly behind your' projected schedule.

Thanks for the effort that you are putting into further improving this unique forum.

I think I'm the only irate one

Ready to get the new system launched!

just where does one go to get his "i" rated?

Bravo I like the new and improved Version. Keep up the good work.

I'll Be Back!

Gee! If he likes the old one that much, maybe we'd better have 911 standing by his house when you launch the new version? Just in case!
