Well, Leon can claim that he'll be a poor impoverished student by the time the Gathering rolls around. (Mind you, I suspect he'll be using that excuse in the bar too, and my sympathy is not unlimited...!)

There is something to be said for having guides with local knowledge (photogenic locations, best routes, real ale pubs, cheesecake providers, etc.) but I must say I do detect a little doorstep-ism going on...! :D

nothing wrong with doorstep-ism. I wont even have a car by then, so I only really have one choice. And Frank - you know what it's like, living on a grant (erm, showing my age there ... loan), having to drag yourself out of bed for the 12 hours college contact time each week, needing to sample all the beers in the union bar for each visit, etc, etc, it's a hard life being a student you know (who am I kidding).

You've got one now? You sold the Prius?! :D

'sides that's no excuse. Tell him, Mr Archer!

However, I do sympathise. I work at a university and know just how much effort the students put in. It's really tough for them. Some of the lectures are literally at the crack of noon! The poor things can't even afford soap! :surprised:

There's nothing wrong mith my Milk Float. And just think of all the film I am buying with the petrol savings I'm making (my average mileage has just crept over 61 mpg and that is around town )

At Bob's suggestion ...

Oct 26-28 would be good for me.

Barry
Sorry: I meant for people to log their preferred locations here in the poll so we can get on with selecting the dates. I've edited the other post to make that clear... People have already started posting their do-able dates in the other thread. I've added yours to the list.

Cheers, Bob.

Your welcome Bob.

BTW I'm on holiday for the two coming weeks, so I will miss the end of the poll (unless I can find a free WiFi point in the South of France?).

Leon - 61 mpg! :surprised: Blimey, that almost makes up for not being able to go round corners! :D

Bob - That's the most creative use of the word "earned" I've seen in a long while too!

Barry - If you spend your time in the South of France looking for a £^*&%#@ wifi point you're a very sad sausage!

However, if you're handing out pints of Guinness I'm prepared to overlook this scandalous suggestion as long as you come back from your trip with LOTS AND LOTS OF STUNNING PHOTOS!

You know, like the ones you brought to the last Gathering! (Made me want to go LF!)

Thanks for your comments Frank, well the one's about the prints anyway.

I shall be studying the Food & Wine so any photo's (and I) may be a little below par! Only 35mm this time as we have other things to do, and finding a WiFi point may not be at the top of my Wife's list!

Regards

Barry

Don't worry, the urge to go LF wore off the next day when I saw you looking like Sherpa Tenzing's subcontractor! :D

Frank, may I suggest that you now run a second poll with the choice being between Kent and Devon, and allow only one vote each for the original voters only.

Okay, that sounds fine. A couple of points though -

1) I don't think I can forcibly restrict the voters to a list. We'll have to relay on people's cooperation, and I'd like to make it people how intend to attend the Gathering rather than people who voted in the last round.
2) I think the timescale should be shorter. How about five days?

Any further thoughts?

I may have missed someone also say this, but should the date be posted, too, in order that those who can and intend to go, vote, as it were?
(does that make sense?)
cheers

A location tie-break poll has been started (there was a url link here which no longer exists). It closes in 5 days.
