Well, a few Melbourne APUG-ers have ordered and received (after 22 months) their plastic Travelwide cameras, and it seems there's general agreement we should get together and 'race them'!! In fact, it's been a long time since the local APUG hordes met, so even without a Travelwide, we should all catch up.

I put these questions to everyone:

WHEN? With the festive season rapidly approaching, our options may be limited - maybe we aspire to a weekend in January?

WHERE? Well we want to test these contraptions, so somewhere photogenic, and with access to somewhere we can sit about and nosh/natter.

What are your thoughts?

Marc!

I'm happy to meet sooner rather than later, but we will be having a holiday in California from November 8th to 22nd. The Travelwide will be coming too.

I'm happy to join in if you accept my Travel-very-wide 7x17 and I'm not working...

Adelaide! Already!

Don't book too much on my account, I'm going to be overloaded (already am) with my Master's Project for the next 6 months. If I do go anywhere (and I'd still like to), I may end up chasing around kangaroos with a thermal camera...

I'm not against Nhill - I believe there's a Leyland P76 'museum' run by a farmer enthusiast somewhere nearby I've always wanted to see...

Marc!

That would be great, but Nhill or surrounds in January. I could pop into the Jeparit cemetery and say hello to the olds, they're pretty cool these days what with living underground, but that's another story.

I could bring my Razzle, which is a Polaroid converted to a 4x5 point and shoot.

I'll race you against my 4x5 travelwide that I've converted to a polaroid point and shoot.

Whatever you guys decide I will endeavour to get there, however, it's athletics season and there's not many times I can get away, although Sunday arvo is usually free, so I vote Melb CBD

I am interested as well. Don't have a Travelwide, but enough other stuff to take pictures. The last two weekends in January would work for me (but maybe better to avoid the weekend before Australia Day). Where? Hmm, you guys know better. Looking back, the Noojee and Kilcunda meetings were particularly successful for me in terms of output.

I still haven't calibrated mine yet!
I'm off to New Zealand South Island, Sunday night. Maybe I should throw it in the bag...
It's a shame the graphmatics don't fit, might have to try and make something up.

Mine is with me in California, and it has taken its first official travel photo in Hollywood. Five more to go in Disneyland and Carlsbad.

If you guys are racing these things, I have to say, they're terribly slow! Did this little get together ever happen?

Not yet, so thanks for the reminder, Molli. I've taken a few photos with mine but would still be keen on a Travelwide-and-friends get-together.

Me too! Now that January's well behind us - any thoughts on timing and location? I wouldn't mind wandering up to Noojee again as Joachim proposed further up the page?

Marc!

By the time anything could or would be arranged, we will be in winter, do you seriously wish to go to Noojee in Winter

That said if I'm free I'll go there, but if we headed west or even north, maybe we could even help some South Australian members attend.

Mick.

I'm certainly not getting anywhere before June with thesis due and all that. But certainly having a holiday soon after (although it may be to some sunny tropical beach and not a Vic winter unless there's skiing involved).

There's always the change of going to the Riverina for work at some point this year (not sure where exactly, probably Wagga Wagga) or Canberra, but if I get the choice I'd much rather head to the Darwin or Townsville installation (and sneak a week or two holiday afterwards).
