We've passed the 3k mark. The power of crowd funding sure is amazing. This will also help cover transaction fees and the tax man. A few donations keep coming in so I'll let this run for a bit longer. Thanks again everyone!

It has been great seeing all the different names of the people who have donated so far, some I recognize, some I don't. If you are a fan of analog photography and of this wonderful oasis Sean has provided for us and you haven't yet made a donation, please do so. It is well worth the small sacrifice.
To all those that have donated... "Thank You!"
I have been an active proponent of including digital process to the wet darkroom and make no apologies for that and I hope Sean comes to his senses and eats some humble pie and join the rebel alliance.
I think the planned integration of APUG and DPUG should go a long way toward making hybrid technique information more available. As for APUG, I'd like to see it stay within it's guidelines (although I find the work you, and others, are doing in that realm very interesting. I'd like to learn more, but in a more appropriate place).
I am hoping that if the end result is a historic print process, any methods of getting there will be open for discussion. That way nothing would be off topic if we are only concerned with the final wet print production.

I have never been trusting of back room door discussions ...what does back end integration mean to you?

System-level capabilities and tools common to both environments. For example...
Things like single ID credentials for both sides, so that a logon for one side is an automatic logon for the other, thus facilitating easier user switching (lower number of clicks and password typing) from one area of interest to the other.
And thread mobility. Meaning the moderators can more easily and less disruptively move threads from less to more appropriate areas of interest and discussion, while minimizing the loss of viewership of those threads in the process.
And cross-platform visibility. So that if Ken wants to see if what Bob is saying about digital negatives might be a better road to a final print than what he is trying to do currently with an analog-only approach, he can do that quickly and cleanly. But if he doesn't want to do that, he doesn't need to wade through large volumes of off-topic (to him) subject matter to find references to other possible analog-only solutions.
I'm merely speculating here. I don't know what features and capabilities might or might not be available, when all is said and done.
But anything that will help with reducing the often unintentional antagonism (think uninitiated new users innocently asking digital first questions, then being pounced upon), as well as the blatantly intentional trolling antagonism (you guys know who you are...), then it couldn't but help with the creatition of a much more enjoyable experience for all.
Ken
Basically this is it. The core systems of APUG & DPUG will be the same, however each site will be it's own unique entity.
