We are getting closer to the conference. :D I'm just wondering where everyone is staying. I'll be at the Best Western Roehampton Hotel, arriving the morning of 3 May. I fly non-stop from Honolulu to Chicago (ugh, 7 1/2 hours), then onto Toronto, so I can't guarantee what kind of shape I will be in when I arrive, but after a nap, I'll be looking around the city a bit.

Looking forward to seeing everyone ....

I'm really impressed that people are coming from so far for the conference. I live just around the corner from the Roehampton, but I don't think I'll be able to make it to the conference sessions due to conflicts with prior plans... I hope to be able to catch a beer with some of you at the Granite Brewery (just kitty-corner from the Roehampton, beer brewed on-site).

Sounds like a winning idea John. I've never been to Toronto and I'm not sure what to expect.

Its been twenty years at least since I was there, but I remember it as scenic, beautiful, good food, and after Hawaii it has got to seem inexpensive.

Toronto is big, beautiful, friendly and clean.

Bob,

If I bring a couple of 20x24 prints is there someone who can flat mount them for me, before the conference starts? These prints are not intended for the APUG show, just for personal showings - they are Fuji Crystal Archive prints from a Chromira.

BTW, I stopped at the bookstore at lunch to pickup a travel guide to Toronto; it looks like a fascinating town. Looking forward to visting and meeting everyone.

Thanks,

I live pretty close to the conference so I don't mind doing a couple of shuttle runs from the Roehampton to the gallery. PM me ahead of time and we can work something out.

I'm flying in from Halifax, home of the original Granite Brewery. Pretty new to apug but some other photo people I know mentioned the conference so I decided to head up.

Bob, thanks for your help.

Looks like we have a pretty fair group staying at the Roehampton. Perhaps we could have a group meet for drinks on Wednesday evening.

*sigh* looks like I'm staying at some hotel in Salt Lake City, I've been booked for a different work-related conference the same weekend (and, being on the conference committee, it's hard to skip!)

Have fun y'all

I'll be staying with my brother at Mt Pleasant and Davisville which is near the conference hotel. I'll have a car so I can shuttle people to/from the Best Western Roehampton Inn from/to the conference.

Regards, Art.

How far is the conference hall from the hotel? If it is nice outside, I wouldn't mind walking once in a while.

I sometimes walk to the lab from my place that is 2min from the Roe Hampton.
It usually after my honey has made a comment about my waist size.
I would say it is a 25 min walk .

I was thinking like you. 2 miles or so isn't far at all so unless the weather is bad, I'll be walking back and forth.

Thanks Bob. Travis sounds like he is ready to try walking, so I guess we can keep each other company on the way. FWIW, I generally walk 2 - 4 miles everyday, so it isn't a big deal for me.

Well, I'm glad I'll have someone to keep me company on the walk. Maybe I can glean some knowledge on the way  I do a lot of hiking in the mountains which I generally go for between 4-10 miles so the two miles on flat pavement won't be a problem.
