Good day all,
After many delays we are now ready to accept conference and workshop registrations. You need to register for the conference to get into a workshop.

It is cheap, easy and the product is of the highest quality.

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

I am waiting on most of the workshop descriptions. Of those I have they need some work or were lost (sorry blansky) and I am plum out of time.

Your support is required!!

please

At this point no one has registered. So by doing so you'll help form the schedule.

We have 12 workshops 3 days. each workshop will be ~ half day or split across days (shoot one day soup the next). This means that only 2 work shops will ever be running at the same time.

It will be a week (atleast) before I can do a schedule.(I'm dancing as fast as I can!!) If by some chance that someone picks overlapping WS we refund their money with a smile.

Since the currency is in canadian dollars, how do I as an attendee figure payment with a check or money order concerning exchange rates?

By most any standard it is very inexpensive in Canada.

1.00 GBP = 2.15 CAD
or 1 CAD = 0.46 GBP

1.00 USD = 1.22 CAD
or 1 CAD = 0.81 USD

1 EUR = 1.48 CAD
or 1 CAD = 0.67 EUR

50.00 CAD = 23.00 GBP, 40.50 USD or 33.50 EUR
75.00 CAD = 34.50 GBP, 60.75 USD or 50.25 EUR

I'll post this on the site when I have the time...

Let us know when you post the material that will be covered in the workshops. I am interested in the Carbon one if King is going to show how to make carbon tissue. The exposure and transfer stuff I got under control now.

Yes I agree with Sean , Good work John, I know you have put in a lot of hours on setting up this conference and print comp site and I hope all APUGers get their fees to Eric Rose so that we can go forward and as well start working on the trade show side of things. John I have a few good thoughts on this as the facility can accomodate an interesting trade show. I will put some diagrams together on the facility . There is two historical camera trade and swap shows twice a year that maybe could be part of the conference. Any local APUGers have any leads or names I could get in touch with???
By the way folks The Conference Beer will be Wellington Brew and we will be having barbeques night and day to help finance this project. Anyone wanting to book hotel early can pm me and I will give you the name of the closest Hotel to the Conference.
Any questions on Toronto I humbly bow down to Ambassador Art as he seems to have every thing at his fingertips.

My wife and I are going to try to make it. But with it so far out, its a bit difficult to commit as yet.

May 4-7 comes during the pre-finals week here and since I will be TAing labs I will have to give and then grade finals during that week. So I won't be able to sign up for anything until I know what my teaching schedule will be like

Make the cheque out in Canadian dollars, and the bank will debit your account in your own currency at the appropriate exchange rate. For money orders, just buy a Canadian dollar money order.

First to register rogueish. Thanks Ian!

But ask your bank what the fee is first for writing a check in a foreign currency. In some places it isn't too bad, but I think my bank charges $15 for it.

Photographic Historical Society of Canada

Hi Bob

I sent an email to the guy I know at the PHSC (Photographic Historical Society of Canada) with your question.

"There is two historical camera trade and swap shows twice a year that maybe could be part of the conference. Any local APUGers have any leads or names I could get in touch with???"

Michael

Thanks Micheal
The historical show would be a fantastic addition to our trade show , we may have to be a third venue for them as the shows I have went to were quite large, I am thinking that if I can talk to the organizer maybe they could send us the cream of the crop vendors.

All APUGers who go for the 3 day pass will get free admission to the trade show, I have an ability to close off the trade show area so that APUG can charge a general admission to the trade show and event area, and still keep the workshop areas private for those who are learning from the instructors.

I think that we will draw quite a crowd to the trade show and show from the regular photo community in Ontario and having the historical show would be an absolute bonus for APUG.

Once you get his name Micheal send it to me and I will follow up, As well John and I have agreed that the TCC would be a great venue to host the two speakers who will present their work. So tentatively book for the Fri Evening as Thurs is the Grand Opening for the show.

best Bob

My Lady and I have booked for the three day pass and a course each.

This is pretty incredible ... I probably win the prize for "APUGer who lives closest to the conference site" -- I am in the Leaside-North Toronto area, basically across the street from the Roehampton Hotel. Not sure yet if I am able to attend as I don't know my schedule yet.

Any APUGers who need more information on this neighbourhood or the city in general are welcome to PM or e-mail me (jwosnick at fastmail dot fm) I am a born-and-bred Torontonian. Lived in the US for six years so I can also advise on travel/immigration issues for Americans coming to Toronto.

I'll be there

Hey Bob, I just downloaded the pdf and will drop it off next week with some film when I come into town. There are at least three things I'm planning on signing up for.
If any of the out-of-towners who are coming early would like to do some photography out of the city, I am happy to introduce them to some of my special places. I would be delighted to volunteer a day to take people on a daytrip. We can arrange carpools to my place, then go from there. As wonderful as Toronto is, I imagine there are some folks coming who would love to get out of the city.

I am signed on for the Carbon workshop.....If I see any kind of printers there I am going to be miffed...

Jorge
I have a Nuark 20x24 waiting for you and a row of sinks .
BTW I have asked Tim Rudman to be an instructor for the Lith course and he has agreed, John Callow will be in touch with him to sort out the details.
For any of the instructors , If you have any paticular needs or equipment requirements I would appreciate a pm with space requirements , sinks , trays, lighting gear ect. that I will need to have on site.

And Yes , all the digital gear will definately be under wraps for this conference.
My traditional side of the lab is quite large . Alternative room is 15ft x30ft nuark plate burner and 2 8x10 durst enlargers, main darkroom 12 enlargers 4x5 up to 11x14 with 40ft of sink. secondary alternative room 10ft sink and a couple of enlarger, as well the matting and framing room can be converted into a major sized room for alternative printing with sinks.Over the three days with 8am-11pm we should be able to accomodate quite of few intense workshops.

Once again Folks, We need to have X number of attendees signed up in advance to make this all work. Please do not wait $75 canadian is a small fee for the weekend

Great news about Dr. Rudman, he is a great instructor and smart as a tack..

I am working on sponsors for the pt/pd workshop. I will contact John with the details, I might need a few letters for the sponsors. This is mainly to obtain supplies.

All I will need is the printing unit and a few trays, so for me you are all set up.I am bringing with me the rest of the materials.

So folks....as Bob said.... Register soon

Hi Bob,
I've just registered for the 3 day conference pass. Plans sound exciting. I would like more information on the workshops before making final choices as there are several that I am interested in so I will wait until that information is available. Also nice to see at least one other person who was at the LF gathering at Rattlesnake Point recently interested in the conference. They were a keen group and hopefully are aware of the conference.
I will contact a couple of them, just to make sure.
