I saw this on another site and thought it would be a cool thing for everone too see! The concept is you can mark where in the world you live and put your name and such. I started it off, I put my handle, and in the "shoutout" I put my real name, location, and what formats I generally shoot. Anyway I just though it would be cool to see where everyone else lives visually.

Heres the site: Dead Link Removed

Cool idea, but it refuses to let me add myself in Southend-on-Sea, even though it is on the map.

Wonder if this is possible in Google Earth?

Ok, I think I just managed to add myself to the Google earth community markers as 'APUG Member Andy K'. Anyone with Google Earth care to take a look at Southeastern England and let me know if it worked?

It would only let me enter a zip code, so right now it says I live in the park a few blocks over. Perhaps it can predict the future and knows that if I keep buying all these cameras I will be living there.

I can't find you and it doesn't seem to know where Ottawa Canada is either (that would be the capital of the country by the way  )

Yeah, it looks like Google Earth will only allow you to add a public placemark if it is a point of interest. It apparently takes a while to appear too. It may be there in a few weeks it may not. You have to register with the google earth community (it's free) and then submit your placemark.

Oooops - I take it back - it was very slow to do it, but it did find Ottawa on about the fourth try and so there I am  I still don't see you Andy, but a couple of your countrymen have appeared.

PS : my pic is taken in front of a pair of economy sized N.A. trucks - no 4wd for this country boy

Ok, I'm added! No photo yet though. I'll have to find one, don't have many of myself.

I'm there now, although the closest substite I could find was Mississauga Beach instead of good old Mississauga. John, doesn't look like the map has too many places of interest in our part of the world.

I signed up. That map acts really wierd, when I try to click on a marker to see who it is the map jumps to somewhere else entirely. That in itself is somewhat entertaining, kind of like Dr. Whos time jumps, never knowing where he'll end up.

Oh well... .... that figures eh?

Canadians - reliable, predictable, but kinda boring and uninteresting right? - hehehe  (what the rest of the world doesn't know won't hurt us)

Nice idea. Too bad I can't split my locations.

Art.

Art alls you have to do it add yourself twice, once normally and then also use your name and put a (2) behind it and the map will accept you.

I found this too. Try clicking on the names, in the list to the right of the map, instead.
