It's good marketing to announce support after your major competitor annouces that their product line is 'dead'. It's also good manners to say thank you. E-mail sent.

I sent my thank you also by e-mail today and no matter what you may think a thank you is always appreciated and noticed whether it's a corporation or a single individual and it never hurts to express your appreciation. Business are made up of people just like you and me and they like to know the public appreciates what they are doing. My company is not huge but it's large in our community and when someone sends a complimentary e-mail it is forwarded to all the employees so it is not "stupid" to send a thank you note. It is a smart thing to do.

OK they get the reward from sales, they are in business to make money, but a simple thank you is always welcome and goes a long way to making friends !

LOL

Boy, do we have people who like to poo-poo things, don't we? To actually believe 1. 'buying the product is enough thanks' and 2. 'actually saying a thank you to a manufacturer is stupid' is simply sad. Who does it hurt? And why do you care?

My e-mail was sent. Plus, I'll start buying more of their products.

Regards, Art.

I'll be sending an email aswell. Fuji are on the right track and need to know that their market research is on the right track aswell. We are here and we WILL buy! By the way I thought their (full) statement was surprisingly and refreshingly emotional; quite touching in fact! Good on them.

I'd suspect that with a large enough response fro us, Fuji would probably report it to the trade magazines and we all would be reading about it, and maybe even Perez, who would be wishing he kept his mouth shut. Emailing next.

Well if anyone belongs to other photographic forums perhaps they might like to start similar threads to this one? The more people who mail them the better!

You are right of course, Art. It never hurts to express appreciation. Since I buy 95% of my film from Fuji, I have a very good reason for expressing appreciation.

There's just a chance that some executive or group of execs at Fuji has stuck his/her/their neck(s) out in the hope that this decision will be vindicated. If I had been that person(s) I'd be glad that it got a positive response.

I sent my email to Fuji expressing my thanks for their support of traditional film materials. Everyone likes to hear thank you even corporations!

P.S. Jeanette/BW Girl Rocks. The son/sun thing was lol funny. I now know why my brother is the way he is--it is my mom's fault!

We have sent a message to Fuji thanking them for their continued support to film. If all APUG members did as suggested and sent an email it would probably calm some jangling nerves in the boardroom of Fuji. On a personal note we have decided against buying any further products from Kodak.

Film will be around for quite a while yet Mr Perez.

Which fuji email account are all of you using? It might be helpful if you posted.

I sent a message to Fuji as well.

Boy, what a screw up by Kodak. I JUST bought 540,000 feet of 35mm b&w motion picture dupe neg, finegrain release print stock and sound recording stock from them for the archive lab I supervise.

I guess $100K worth of purchases are not important to that CEO.

Ok ORWO and FUJI, looks you are THE REAL DEAL.

I opted to send my thanks via snail mail. For B&W I'll continue to use Ilford, but all my color stuff will be Fuji from now on. I'll use up the yellow boxes in my fridge, but they certainly won't be replaced with the same color.

I used the one Frank posted at the start of the thread, because that's the one which said they would forward all emails to Fuji Japan.

Exactly and since I buy 0% of Fuji films, I have better things to do with my precious time.
I consider the Fuji move a positive thing for people using their products, but thank them for what?
I buy 100% of my products from Ilford for years, long live ILFORD HARMAN!

Cheers

I use Ilford all the time as well, but I take the view that one day I might need colour film also.

I can only speak personally - I use Ilford films aswell - different films for different kinds of images - what I'm thanking Fuji for is taking a stand at this time and making a statement in support of trad. B&W photography. I've been saying what they say in the press release (the bit before Frank's quote on other thread) for so long til I'm blue in the face to all the digi people I know. It's good to see a major maunfacturer come out and say the same thing.

Pity Kodak didn't have this courage, but has satisfied the concerns of its shareholders instead.

Best wishes

I shoot colour very rarely, but when I do, Portra 160 NC is my choice, I dislike the highly saturated colours of FUJI, a matter of taste of course.

Cheers!
