Appreciation of Martin Parr

Well ... I wasn't really thinking about the humour when I thought about parallels with Parr (although some might say the depiction of the alcoholic father has a affectionate, humorous undertone) but rather about the pretty raw/unfiltered social commentary aspect I detect in both.

Since the Butturini book controversy and the way Martin Parr "managed" it, I have little esteem for him.

Well, he resigned as artistic director of the Bristol Photo Festival, published an apology, called the photo spread "offensive and demeaning" and said that it was inexcusable that he did not notice it.

I find that managing it all pretty well.
