Thanks for this, Clive! I’m saving it for another day, but just now I got as far as the night shots, which I had never seen before. Those are completely wonderful.

What a gorgeous exercise in tonality and composition. That image is so rich in every way!

Exactly. The other night shots in that exhibition show equal mastery of his medium. With some photographers one might say that he did all this despite lacking one arm, one eye, and the Zone System; but he was so proficient he made all that irrelevant.
