As a student, I spent 1/16th of my entire year's living costs (i.e. UK£25 out of UK£4000) in 1965/66 on David Bailey's Box of Pinups. About 20 years later, my mother was having a clearcut of my "stuff" and threw it in the bin. I've never really got over that!!!

The horror... The horror...

You'll be happy to know it didn't appreciate much over the years....

Is it just my eyes, or is that some kind of Sabattier effect going on in many of those photos? Slightly weird mid-tone values that should be darker. Photo 10 in that set, left-hand side, is a clear example.

Also, how does the background appear creamy yellow in every case?

If he paid £25 as he said and still had them he would well up in profit if sold

I thought that was a bit obvious from the $8000 sold price I posted.

As I also thought the sarcasm would be obvious...

It mighty be the digitization of the photos. Or it could be the paper. They're halftone prints, which may explain how some look sabbatiered, also. I find some decent-quality prints in books sometimes look sabbatiered (is that even a word?) when you look at them at a slight angle. These being digitized - which probably was done with a camera rather than a scanner - they may not be totally accurate.
