I use this paper folded over for 7x17 B&W negative film storage in a Hollinger archival box. Light Impressions is out of stock of the paper AGAIN. What is a good alternative product or vendor?

Item#3141 Apollo Paper™, 14 x 18 - 100/pkg -$23.95

“Apollo Paper™ is perfect for photos, document interleaving, xerography, envelope-making, and lining. Any black & white artwork or photos should be lined in our Apollo Papers. Each is buffered to pH 8.0-8.5 with 2% calcium carbonate, for use with Nitrate Base Films, B&W Silver Halide Films and Papers. The papers are made of acid and lignin-free, 80lb. text weight with 25% cotton fiber, less than .0008% reducible sulfur content, and a smooth white surface. We watermark each sheet to identify the presence or absence of the buffering agent. All papers pass P.A.T.”

Thanks for your thoughts.

I've used a size that was slightly larger than 14x18 and trimmed it to size with the rotatrim after it was folded.

Order for two 100 sheet packages placed Feb. 14, 08
March 4, 08 they tell me they will receive stock March 7th and ship at once.
We will see.

I am surprised that I can't find this product by name elsewhere. Can someone suggest another way of searching for this product? I would really like to try a different vendor.

John, You can also buy apollo by the roll. It saves a few pennies and will last a long time. You may also try checking with Hollinger. They may sell a similar product. Robert

john--apollo is just LI's name for that product. Their unbuffered paper is called, "renaissance". you can find similar products from most of their other competitors, like "permalife", or "permadur" paper/stock. The only other kind you'd encounter, would be the CRI microchamber paper which is sold in sheets & rolls as well- link:

Now that is a list of choices.
Thank you.

Sorry to reserect an old thread but....

John,
I ordered some 14x18 apollo paper from LI in late November. They charged my CC on November 29th. When Dec. 20th rolled around without any shipping notification, I called LI. Seems the paper isn't expected until late January. I gave them hell for charging my CC months before expected shipment and requested the order be cancelled and a refund issued.

I've decided to use this:

instead. A few pennies more per sheet, but I won't have to fool with cutting it down from 14x18 to 14x17

Happy Holidays,

Paper or Plastic

Is there an archival advantage to using paper rather than plastic sleeves for sheet film protection? There probably is an environmental advantage which is why I insist on paper at local grocery store check-out. But for my 7X17 negatives I've been using sleeves from Climax Photo

One possible advantage for Acetate film is allowing the Fumes that an cause Vinegar Syndrome to dissipate. Not sure if that is a valid concern. Even then, Much of the current sheet film is Polyester.

Happy Holidays,

Wow, this is an old thread. I haven't bought anything from LI since before I started this thread in 2008.

Oct 15, 2010 I ordered from Hollinger Metal Edge
100 sheet pack IP810 buffered interleaving paper 8x10 $6.60
100 sheet pack IP1418 buffered interleaving paper 14x18 $25.85
five 12x10.625 HG Print file boxes @ $10.55 each

I have used their larger boxes for 7x17 negatives for several years and when they changed shape to a flatter style, my friend John Bowen was kind enough to sell me some of his extras in the original shape which allowed upright edge storage of the negative rather than flat.

This is an old thread, but did any one else noticed it is the same issue with Light Impressions.?

Happy Holidays,

As a follow-up, I received my January CC stmt and had NOT received a credit from Light Impressions. I contacted my CC company to dispute the charges. I also let the CC company know that my card had been charged at least 2 months prior to LI expecitng to ship the goods.

My advice to anyone anticipating ordering from LI would be to call them to check on the inventory of your items and then place the order over the phone. Good luck.
