do you have weights for the long lenses?.........my main interest is the 1000.

Clayton

Clayton,

The actual weights (including mounting flange) for the longer APO Germinars are:

600mm = 1880g
750mm = 3526g
1000mm = 3790g

Kerry; I have one of your 240's. What a great lens. I'm one of the weird ones interested in the 210. Do you know the filter size?

Jim,

The 210mm f4.5 Docter Tessar has a 58mm filter size. As a bonus, I will be including a 58mm Zeiss polarizer and a lens hood with each Tessar sold. These are the same accessories I included with the 240mm Germinar-Ws I sold previously. Although they are included at no extra charge, these are actually very high quality, useful items.

I'm interested in one of the 270 G-Clarons.

Diane,

Please watch the APUG classifieds and respond as soon as you see the ad for the G Clarons. The 270mm will be in very short supply.

Update: The lenses have not yet arrived. Even if they arrive on the 24th, I will not get around to posting them for sale in the classifieds until the evening of the 26th at the earliest, or the morning of the 27th (I have other commitments on the 24th, 25th and morning of the 26th). That assumes they arrive on the 24th or the morning of the 26th. I don't want to officially offer them for sale until they arrive and I have a chance to inspect them to make sure nothing was damaged during shipping. Of course, if there are further shipping delays it will push out the sale date. I'll list them for sale in the classifieds section as soon as I can and will post an update if there are any additional delays.

Thanks to all who have expressed an interest in these lenses and your patience in waiting for them to arrive.

For those who are wondering why I haven't posted the Germinars for sale in the classified section - they have not arrived, yet. They were shipped about a week later than originally anticipated, and then the packages were further delayed by the holiday shipping rush.

So, they are on their way and expected any day. Once they have arrived, I will inspect them to make sure there was no damage during shipping and then list them in the APUG classifieds.

Thanks for your patience,
Kerry

Rob (and everyone else),

The lenses have not yet arrived. They were shipped later than originally planned and have been delayed during shipping. We are trying to track down their whereabouts. Once they arrive, I will post them for sale in the classifieds section.

Some lenses (especially the 1000mm) will be in very short supply. So, please watch the classsifieds section and be prepared to respond quickly.

Sorry again for the delay and thanks for your patience and continued interest.

Thanks for the information Arne. I suspected that they were the same package but I thought I would check with the resident expert just to make sure.

Cheers!

Can anyone (maybe Arne) tell me if the 750mm F14.5 Doctor Apo Germinar lens that comes in a Copal #3 (about 4.5# total weight) is the same lens design as the f9 750mm Apo Germinar lens discussed here just a wider aperture and heavier?

Thanks in advance!

Kerry,

Any update? Thanks.

Jason.

Sorry to go silent on everyone. The lenses still haven't arrived. Due to the weight, they were shipped standard post from Germany - which can be very slow (typically 25 - 30 days even for small, light packages).

Please be patient. I'll post another update when they arrive.

You must have guessed that the anticipation was killing some of us. :smile:

Thanks for the update. It's good to know that the stuff isn't hung up in customs. At least not yet.

The Lenses Have Arrived!!!!

Well, they are finally here. My wife just called to let me know the last three boxes have arrived. Due to the weight (220 lbs. total) the lenses were shipped in five boxes. Two boxes arrived last Tuesday and the other three about 1/2 hour ago. I still need to unpack, inspect, inventory and photograph the lenses before listing them in the classifieds. So, this coming Sunday (1/29/06) will be the absolute earliest they will be listed.

As originally stated, all the lenses are available in limited quantities (some VERY limited) and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. So, please start watching the classifieds section on Sunday and be ready to respond once the listings are posted.

Thanks for your patience,

Sorry but have the prices been listed anywhere? (which page)

I don't think the new Nikon DSLR had such as long a thread as this one...

As I'm getting a lot of PMs (that's Private Messages - not PMS). I want to post a brief clarification and reiterate what I posted earlier in this thread (for those who may have missed it, please go back to page 5 and read my posting there).

I have no waiting list and am not taking deposits or holding lenses for anyone at this time. The lenses will be sold on a first come, first served basis to APUG sunscribers once they are officially listed in the APUG classifieds. I expect to start (and hopefully finish) listing the lenses this coming Sunday (1/29/06). I will not accept any orders, or hold any lenses, until they have been listed in the classifieds. If you are not an APUG subscriber and want to take advantage of this offer, sign up now. Do not wait. If it doesn't say "subscriber" below your name, when you submit your order, I will not sell you a lens. Also, if you are not already signed up with PayPal, get on the ball and do it now (it takes a few days). Don't wait or it may be too late.

PayPal is required for payment (with very few exceptions - i.e. PayPal is not available in your country). Once the lenses are listed in the classifieds, please send me a PM, tell me what you want and supply your shipping address. I will respond in the order that the messages are received. If you have included your shipping address in your PM, my response will include the total amount to pay, including shipping and insurance. International shipping is available at actual costs. If you fail to include your shipping address, you will receive a response requesting that information and you will be bumped to the bottom of the queue. Once you receive your total, you will have 48 hours to send your payment via PayPal (unless other arrangements have been made). If payment is not received within the alotted time, the lens(es) you ordered will be offered to the next person in the queue.

I have a LOT of lenses to pack up and ship. I won't have time to answer a lot questions about the lenses or the ordering procedures. I have other demands on my time and will be stretched very thin just try to fill orders and get the packages in the mail. Please help me make this run as smoothly as possible. If you have questions about the lenses, please re-read this thread and the links to the descriptions on my website (see the first posting in this thread). If your question is still not answered, post it here in this thread. That will keep it separate from all the private messages I will be getting from those placing orders. It will also allow me to answer the question once, right here where everyone can see the answer. This is much more efficient than answering the same question over and over in private messages. I want to get these lenses in the hands of my fellow APUGers as soon as possible. Your help in making this an efficient process will be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Kerry

OK, I've just listed the 150mm Germinar-W, 240mm Germinar-W, 300mm APO Germinar, 600mm APO Germinar, 750mm APO Germinar, 1000mm APO Germinar and 210mm Tessar lenses in the APUG classifieds. Let the FUN begin!

I see I am already getting many private messages. I will try to get back to everyone with a shipping quote by the end of the day. Please be patient and rest assured the lenses will be sold in the order the PMs are received. I'm going to be quite busy, but will respond as promptly as I can to your requests. Thanks again for your patience. I'll do my best to get the lenses packed up and shipped to buyers as fast as humanly possible. I know many of you have been waiting patiently for these lenses to be listed for over a month. I will do my best to service your requests and get these wonderful lenses in your hands ASAP.

I will also have a few 305mm G Clarons that I will try to list later today, or tomorrow - time permitting.

Wow, that was fast. Pending receipt of payment, the 1000mm APO Germinars are sold out. If you would like to add your name to the waiting list, in case a sale falls through, please respond to the listing in the classifieds, as described there.

Hi Folks,

I just checked my email and have several emails for folks wishing to buy lenses. I'd prefer you use the APUG PM (Private Message) function as it lets me manage requests amd keep track of whose next in the queue much easier than tracking both private messages and emails.

If you responded by email, don't resubmit your request (it will only confuse me further), Ill sort it out. But if you haven't yet responded, please us APUG's PM function - not email.

Thanks,
Kerry
