Hi all,

I already subscribe to the ongoing international postcard and print exchanges, but wondered after seeing that there are ones for other specific places, I wondered if there is enough interest / members to do a UK, 100% Analog one?

I'm not going to stop doing the above mentioned ones, but it would be great to see pictures of various areas of the UK that I and anyone else who joins in, may have not seen or been to before.

So, before I do anything else, is anyone interested in such an idea?

Initially, I just want to see people post if they have an interest.

Many thanks in advance peoples,

Terry S
Essex, UK

PS I have tried posting this message last week and although it is showing up in one folder it didn't seem to make it to the general forum list of new posts, hence me trying to post it again.

Thanks for replying Ferru. The two of us is a start and it's good to know that my message is now out on the forum to read.

I'll contact you further if we can get a few more on board.

Great! We have six people interested, so I think we could have our first round soon.

I'll have a read over the 'rules' from the other exchanges and get back to you all, but basically, I want it to be a easy as possible.

So what are peoples thoughts on the following:

1. Lets say sign up period for one month and then another month to send out the pictures, with the exception of this one which we could start right away but give until the end of November 2017 to get prints out?

2. I belong to both postcard and 10x8 inch (maximum) print exchanges at the mo. Does anyone have a preference or would the second choice, of basically leaving it open, with up to 10x8 inch being the biggest size?

3. As there are only a few of us so far, would people like to send and receive just one print from one other person on each exchange or would people like to send and receive to all of the other current participants? As it's in the UK only, postage will be a lot less than sending overseas.

4. All prints must be from silver halide film orientated negatives and / or paper and be darkroom printed ie no inclusion of digital in any way and no inkjet prints. All other alternative techniques are welcome.

The basic ideas, as I see it, is to send and receive UK taken only pictures. I'm thinking of landscape type pictures rather than portraits, fine art and zany stuff, so that we all get to see places that we might not have visited.

Thoughts people?

Many thanks for all your interest.

Sounds fine to me, but just have the size open, no minimum size, and as long as it fits into a standard A4 size envelope, also leave the subject open, after all, we don't all rake just landscapes,, for instance I take a lot of found still life, and ''event'' photography, I have been to the Fais de Cidre or traditional cider making event, and have got some interesting portraits there, so I feel that landscape type photos would be restrictive,

Sounds good to me and I agree with Richard when he's saying to leave the subject open. A minimum size of 10x8 however I think is fair for a print exchange.
Finally, I wouldn't mind to send and receive to all of the other current participants if the number if participants is 6-8 maximum.

Cheers,
Ferru

Hi and thanks for your enquiry.

The simple answer is not yet... Regrettably there have been some sad family bits to sort out.

BUT, I am still wanting to set it all going but what with Chrimbo just coming around, I am hoping to start it in the early New Year.

Are you interested in participating? The more the merrier.

Just stumbled across this thread. I am the current coordinator of the Aussie one. We have had our ups and downs, but we are back on it again and for the first time, fully analogue and fully Australian ( with one expat, who lives in the US now).

If you are curious to see how we do it, have a read through the threads over here:

Good luck!

Great to see some more names to go on the list.

I was contacted on this site by the organiser of the Australian print swap and I am currently reading through their set of do's and don'ts. They initially seem bit long and I think a couple can come out at least.

In the mean time please continue to put your names on the list and I will be in contact properly, probably post Christmas and New Year with final instructions, but there may be a few questions to put to you all before that.

I do find the dumbing down of Christmas by calling it Crimbo grates enormously. The birth of Jesus should be respected. If everybody followed his teachings then all the bloody conflicts in the world would be history.

Sorry to grate you Tony, but as an atheist the word used has a totally different meaning to me and there are much worse things in the world than that to get worked up about.

But true, if all mankind were just a little bit nicer to each other what a different world it would be!

And not wanting to start anything serious and go off topic, but it would also be nice if all faiths followed the 'love thy neighbour' bit by letting all religions believe what they want to without causing any harm to others who disagree. :D
