hello. I was a kiev 4 lover user and now i bought a canon 7. With the kiev i use the helios 103, a incredible lens, my all time fav lens. Now i want to try the canon 7 because is more realible and have ha bright and large viewfinder. I saw on google some contax / ltm adapter with numbers fore zone focusing too. someone have one or tried one? With this adapter can i use my helios in my canon 7 and and focusing with rangefinder?

I have the "Amedeo" adapter for Contax -> LTM. The workmanship is excellent, and It works very well for 50mm lenses without hellicoids (the 50mm F1.5 Sonnar is my favorite lens for the Leica IIIf). RF focus is spot on. It also has an outer bayonet for Contax lenses with hellicoids, but this is a little more tricky to use, especially if you are trying to stack it on top of an M adapter. The one thing I miss is a DoF scale for 50mm lenses (some other brands have this). Sadly, this model doesn't appear to be made any more.

I tried the Amedeo adapter, because I wanted to use my Contax f1.5 Sonnar on a Canon 7. I found it too fiddly. Maybe I got a bad copy (it was from the original maker and not cheap). The helical was tight in spots and whatever stop kept it from coming completely unscrewed broke. It didn’t belong on the Canon. Not worth it in my case. I got my Contax lla CLA’d instead- expensive!- but worth it. Bought some nice Canon glass for the 7. If it were me, I would use a Contax lla or llla with your Helios. I sold all my Kievs and FEDs but kept the Helios for the Contax- razor sharp!

The Rafcamera external adapter is also not rangefinder coupled.
A couple of words about Rafcamera: I dealt with him quite a bit about a decade or so ago, he was selling quite a bit of FSU cinema camera equipment. He made a some bits and pieces to make the Kinors and Konvas cameras work without the FSU quirks. He was a very helpful and honest guy and his workmanship always first rate. Just wanted to give him a plug if anyone is shopping for lens adapters. I will be ordering an OCT 18 (FSU Konvas 1m lens mount) to LUMIX mount from him shortly so I can use a few of my old lenses.
