Sharperstill how is your checking of your finances coming along?

I was going to split the freight cost up by percentage of each persons' total of the grand total. So if the total was $500 and one of the orders was $250, then that person would have half the freight to pay.

Tuesday next week I will PM the details of the order out to everyone for confirmation before I order. If all is well with your order could I ask that you shoot the final owed amount to me through direct bank transfer, or deliver to me at home if that takes your fancy. Details will be in the pm as well as my address.

I know some of you are in Melbourne or greater surounds, Others I have no idea. We can work out how I get your stuff to you, I will be happy to post if that works or we can discuss alternatives on case by case basis.

I'd like to be able to check my postage savings before I commit to this. Simple reason is that my items aren't too big/bulky, but they are expensive (7x17 film). Just want to make sure that I am actually making a saving!

That was why I thought I had better send out the intended order broken down by member and an estimation of shipping costs. This I will do Tuesday morning. After review and if you want to go ahead with the purchases forward me the funds or least a proportion of it.

The large total would suggest we are gonna be hit with an import duty too... Keep that in mind. Maybe we could split up the order between 2 people or something.

Looked into what this would be and it is not a simple matter of applying a flat rate to the order. I have discovered instant print film is duty free for instance. Other items depending on country of manufacture can also be duty free, or 3% or 5%.

I only see two options. A). Order broken up between two of us, or B). Order broken up and shipped to me separated by a good period of time.

Any volunteers for helping persue option A) ???

Others here on APUG have ordered from Freestyle, with orders well under the $1000 GST-threshold. I am very surprised the order has come to well over $1,500. The order is too high to garner benefits of overseas purchasing. Customs, only doing their job, will embargo the order (sometimes for as long as 10 days, but the average is 3) and charge 10% GST, pushing the total to around $1,722.00 (they include freight-on-GST). It is unfair to have others in a small order group carry the burden of a GST impost; the order should be split up 2 or 3 with each one under the GST-free threshold.

Also, I've heard of customs catching people out up to a few weeks between big orders split up to avoid GST.
We're better off splitting it up with regions considered for ease of postage costs.

Don't be like that buddy. It'll still be over a grand anyway. If we do 2 orders it'll be easy. You may as well stay in and get the stuff shipped to you.

The order of $1500 as it stands will balloon to $1,722++ with GST and any Customs administrative charges added, so cutting it to 2 or 3 small orders will be better. I would say $600 at most, no more. Plenty of breathing space for freight or currency movements.
