Hmm - seems I missed something - were the free Portras a new formulation of existing film? When I got my free ones, it was just before a vacation to Florida. I went out an bought more rolls of Portra that seemed to be the same. Now I wish I'd kept track of them - I certainly can't tell which is which by looking at my negatives or scans.

The free Portras were a new formulation of their existing line. They have a new edge number, i.e "Portra 400VC-2", so you can tell them apart.
