Anyone from Spain or thereabouts?

Hi all,

Greetings from northern Spain, where we run a B&W specialist supply shop (www.foto-r3.com), catering to the Spanish market but also glad to help anyone we can. I mention this as it may additionally be of interest to those here on holiday.

I have benefitted greatly from APUG and the advice given by members, in the very short time I have been online. It goes to show you that when a group of like-minded people get together, they can make things happen and this gives me encouragement. Hopefully I will be able to contribute and help others as they have helped me.

Towards this end, I'd like to make any Spain-based photogs aware of a new Spanish-language online analog community we have set up at: http://cufae.17.forumer.com/index.php. Any input is welcome. I'd also like to see a Spanish forum set up here at APUG, too, as has been done with French and (I believe) Dutch.

As regards to why we dont carry Ilford, I can tell you that our first priority was to set out to provide Spanish photogs with the material they cant find easily in the shops, or which the shops wont carry because of little profit margin/demand.

How is the situation in Greece? Any niche shops?

I thought so by looking at your inventory of film.
I use only Ilford film but I am always open to trying out other brands.
Here in Greece though you can only find Ilford and Kodak in BW.

How is the situation in Greece? Any niche shops?

Here in Crete there is only a store that carries film, paper and chemicals and its more like a small warehouse than a retail shop. I buy my stuff from him.
In Athens there are still four or five stores that are representatives of photo equipment and also carry silver materials. There is also a tiny store focused on BW only and a distributor of Tetenal stuff.
They seem to still sell and they are not really niche or small, so its not as bad yet.
I am going to make a large order of film from a German store though as they give me very good prices for large quantities.

Aristotelis: I am happy to hear you have some options available to you. Consider yourself lucky! Of course in Greece you have a good manufacturer of lighting equip., Kouzis.

Hi Micek...Lucky you, living in the "fortunate isles"!

No problem with sending to the Canaries. The only problem is with larger items that you can´t send through the Spanish post, because of the customs tax. But perhaps not being subject to VAT offsets this.
