Anyone ever come up to you while shooting a TLR and get asked if it was one of those.

I've had attractive young women say "what a beautiful camera" of my Rolleiflex.

Exactly. I'm an old guy (but very good-looking, lol) and I'm out with my Rolleiflex MX and it's a chick magnet! Seriously, I can't remember a time when I haven't got comments from a cute young gal.

I haven't taken my new Mamiya C-33 too much out in public yet, but I did get a lot of looks of interest when I was shooting outside with a C-220 that I was borrowing. I can't wait to go shoot some street stuff with it, I'm very interested to how people will react to it compared to my SLRs.

I reckon it's time to load my old Rolleiflex with some EFKE or APX 25 and take it out for a spin around Bellingham or elsewhere- this could be an awful lot of FUN!!!!!!!!

Hmm, if I was a lot younger and single I'd troll for girls with my MF or LF and borrow a puppy.

people love my tlr!!!

when shooting (and carrying it around for that matter), the general public is fascinated by my yashica d. from my experience, old timers just smile and reflect on some past memory, fotogs just nod their heads with respect at this 100% mechanical/manual beauty, the holga crowd always say something positive and ask various questions, the fashionistas go wild because, besides a nice rangefinder, a tlr is coolest "lo-fi" gadget amongst those who carry cameras as fashion accessories, and kids don't know what i'm carrying.
but seriously, when i take my yashica out for a ride, i find people are more willing to allow me to take their photos and forget the camera is even present. like cj said below, "they smile instead of walking away". i wish i knew why, but as long as i am able to shoot the image i envision, i really don't care.
and yes, the cute girls, who are into fotografia, usually give big me a big old smile - now, if i could parlay that smile into a dinner and a movie life would would even be more beautiful.

I was looking at mine and thinking.... you know if I had another one of these and fixed them to the same long bar off a pistol grip and joined their focussing wheels with a piece of tubing.... I could make a kicking 6x6 stereo outfit which would be fairly quick and easy to operate....

Hmmmm

Owning both, a TLR attracts slight more comments and discussion from young women than a Jaguar E-type. The Jag attracts the older women. Both get comments from older men.

I once had my Mamiya TLR round my neck on bus about twenty years ago, I was sitting right next to the door and an old lady got on the bus and offered me her fare, she thought my camera was a ticket machine

No one has actually come up to me and said anything but TLR (I have a Rolleicord) seems to bring smiles to people walking by. It doesn't happen with SLR or any other type of cameras I have.

It's absolutely true, the ticket machines that bus conductors used in those days had rotating cranks on the right hand side like a TLR,, and the old lady was a little confused

I think if anyone asks me if my Rollei is a 3D camera, I'll lean over and whisper, "It is actually the new 4D camera -- it captures time, too."

Way cool camera, djacobox!

I get very positive reactions when out with my Rolleiflex. I generally get the same friendly responses from people when I'm using my 2x3 Graflex SLR.

I don't think I've ever beens asked if it was 3D but I have had people ask if it was a home movie camera.

I was out with my Rolleiflex a while ago and a guy on a bike rode by and said "Nice Yashica!"...

hello

i bought one yashica mat 124, not g, in an apparent excellent condition yesterday and it didn´t arrived yet, i just had contact with tlr´s when i was really young and i don´t know if i will adapt well to the camera. It was more for fun, i have a nice hasselblad sistem, fuji rangefinders, well, lot´s of cameras, and i didn´t want to invest in the rollei 2,8 because if i don´t like the camera it´s a lot of money standing...

I want to know if i can do some things with the yashica! is the lens acceptable? is it well made? dependable? is the shutter reliable?

i will make a full CLA before working with it

thanks

I have a Yashicamat 124G. If you get one in good condition you'll be able to do a lot with it, the Yashinon lens is quite good, and mine has held up pretty well for more than 20 years. Mark Hama does a nice job of repairing/CLA's on them.

Mine was my only MF camera for many years and I have a lot of irreplaceable photos with it.
