It is cicada mania outside my window today. The last two days I have been late to setup and photograph the final molt. By 9:00 AM all that will molt that day have done so it seems. Yesterday was the first wave, and today was even bigger. More tomorrow??

I have collected some specimens for the kids to mount and preserve, as we won't see them again for 17 years.

17-year Brood V Cidada emergence map as of March (dark spots). The light spots are from 1988. A more recent map I saw would have the brown spots covering nearly the same 1988 area.
