I'm trying to use my 58mm SA XL with my 57 Deardorff. If I put the bellows in a vice, I can get it to focus. Looks like I need a recessed lensboard. I don't know if there is such a thing and if there were, I don't think it with work will my setup, as I have adapted a non-Deardorff lensboard to my cameras. I'm thinking of building a little recessed lensboard with about 3/8" (9mm) of offset. Anybody done such a thing?

Thanks.

I was going to build a recessed board for my Ansco. All it was going to be was a series of steps. Outer step would be the outer part of a normal board. Then cut the middle out of that. Glue a smaller piece behind the first board. That's your first step. Cut the middle out of the new piece. Glue a new piece behind this. With a big lensboard this should be relatively easy. Using 1/4" material then three steps will get you 3/4" or about 18mm of recess.

Will that 58mm cover 5x7?
