Says it comes in a metal DX coded cartridge and is manufactured in Germany exclusively for Freestyle. Anybody shot it? Any idea if it's a re-spool or a for reals new BW film just for Freestyle? Looking at the tech sheet they have on their site, it total contrast seems a little low (less than 2.0 log) and quite S-curvy, and the spectral shows a fat dip in the blues with a nice bump in the reds but they don't list what kind of light was used to make the graph, so who knows....

Meh... AristaPan has an anti-halation layer between the subbing layer and the emulsion layer, UN54 does not. Other than that, they sorta have similar characteristic curves, but the spectral charts don't match, but again, the UN54 chart says it used an equal energy light source (whatever that means) and the AristaPan chart doesn't specify the light source.

It maybe might be a modified version of UN54 where they had the coater add a dye anti-halation layer before coating on the emulsion.

I should probably launch my own new B&W film, and so should my neighbor and my dog.

Just looked it up- listed at $6.99 35mm x 36 exp), so actually even cheaper. I hope they make it available in bulk rolls

I meant $6.99, don't know where $7.99 came from. It's been a long weekend and I've eaten waaayy to much sugar and junk food over the last three days.

sounds a bit like Original Wolfen NP 100, which is suposed to be like UN54 but made with an AntiHalo dye. Wonder who is packing it.

Gee, Comparison of the data sheets does show a resemblance...

I just went through this the other day trying to figure out what this film is. I ended up looking up the photographer credited with the photos on the Aristapan 100 product page, Eric Joseph. On his instagram he posted this photo earlier this year and credits it as Wolfen NP100.

That photo is used as an example on the Aristapan 100 product listing. Combine that with the data sheet examples earlier in this thread and you have your answer.

And Mr. Eric Joseph is one of the principles of FreestylePhoto "Eric Joseph is a photographer and Senior Vice President of New Business and Product Development at Freestyle Photographic Supplies. Eric graduated from California State University, Northridge in 1985 with a B.A. in Art, Specializing in Photography. He began his career at Freestyle Photographic Supplies in 1986, where he worked his way up to his current Sr. V.P. position." That's a big dip in the green part of the spectrum. As the scales are logarithmic, it means 2 full stops less sensitive to green that red or blue.

It still looks like a photo taken with Aviphot, though. Dead shadows, dark skies, very sharp.

The sample photos Freestyle is using aren't that great. If you google around for NP100 reviews, the added anti-halation layer adds quite a bit of sharpness over plain UN-54, and the relatively strong S-Curve gives the mid-tones a giant pile of snap, assuming it was exposed correctly and it's a decent scan.
