I presume you mean 18x24 in cm

Well, the latest price is about 166 HRK for a box of 100, which is about 23 EUR or $27, if I'm not mistaken. Add to that the cost of postage (about 5 EUR for courier delivery for packages up to 5 kg).

It's bound to go up... As I said, their suppliers (paper base, etc.) are raising their prices, and they have no other choice but to raise theirs.

I had another talk today regarding the concerns expressed above about the rumour about Fotokemika/Efke factory closing down. It's nothing else but a rumour.

They can't guarante what will happen in another year or so - it's not as if they control the market... In short, as long as there's demand for their products, they will make them and stay in business.

BTW, an interesting piece of info: they told me that the largest B&W markets are India and Africa!!! And the competition (Chinese, i.e. "Lucky" brand) is killing them there, since they have ridiculously low prices (with the appropriate low quality...).

So, buy Efke films (and Emaks papers), and keep them in business!

Otherwise our only other option will be "Lucky", a brand I don't know much about, but from that I hear, it's nowhere near Efke....

outfit down the street that makes Azo? Maybe they
could coat the same paper with an enlarging
speed emulsion. Dan

I'm in the same boat with about a half of a 100 sheet box left. Hope it doesn't go bad while i'm waiting for a worthy project for it.

Make sure you seal it in 2 or 3 ziplock or similar bags and refrigerate it. And that you let it warm up overnight before opening the bags. Paper is slow enough that you don't have to worry about cosmic rays and such.

If not, what is the lightest weight FB paper there is, please?

I feel the same Ryan. I was just getting in to using single weight Kodak Polymax Fine Art fiber when it was discontinued last year. At that time I did a search of the internet suppliers in the USA and came with nothing. Would sure like hear if there is some available now.

I'm not sure why single weight got a bad rap so that it didn't sell. Maybe it was mostly do to Ansel Adams saying he preferred double weight, so single weight became magically "inferior". Maybe St Ansel was a little klutzy.

I guess all of our problems in photography can and will be blamed on Ansel from now on. When I worked in a camera store 50 years ago, almost all the single weight glossy paper we sold went to our local newspaper darkrooms who used it so the papers could make plates from which they printed news pictures, etc. What we did not sell to them, we sold to studios for them to use making prints of wedding pictures to deliver to the newspapers. As has already been mentioned, in the home darkroom, sw prints were hell to work with after they dried and "rolled" up. If you want a villian in this case, look to all those wonderful "D-----L" cameras that photo journalists are now using.......Regards!

jnanian. On their website, Silverprint do not stock the Unibrom 160 BP.
marc. I saw on B&H. It will make it very expensive in the UK with import duty.

Loren. I can't speak for others, but I like the more down-to-earth artlessness of single-weight. Plus it buckles.

EDIT. I've tried writing to Silverprint's sales email instead of the one they use on the Slavich site. I may write to Slavich, too. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Loren - I used single weight paper to make a hand-printed book. It worked really nicely for that purpose - you really couldn't (easily) use a thicker weight of paper.

less washing time ( thinner paper=less of a sponge to leech chems out of )
easier to contact print paper negatives ( thinner paper = less paper for light to pass through/shorter exposures )
as marc says less thick for stitching books. i've made hand stitched books with both single weight paper
and regular weight.

Thank-you. I did look on their site and they do not stock single-weight. But I have written now and will wait to hear.

I have bought Slavich paper from Geola, they will sell you anything that is on the price list, you can even order your own custom size rolls (maximum width is 1 meter though). Just be aware that in my case, from payment to actual shipping, it took nearly 3 months. Shipping was surprisingly affordable, and came with tracking as well.

I looked at their pricelist and indeed the tables have been changed, they were separated in two (Bromportrait and Unibrom), stating the single weight/double weight price for each pack, also IIRC for custom rolls it was 12 EUR per square meter for the single weight. Also there was a broader range of sizes available. I bought 4X6 5X7 and 8X10, those were on the pricelist back then, I see the smallest size now is 18x24 cm.

That's a pity, if the paper proved good I would put an order for some custom rolls... but 500EUR is beyond my budget for paper...
