There's many threads with mention of 'taking' MF photos in Vietnam. Let's see some examples, or links. (35mm or other formats, too!)

I just returned from Laos and Vietnam yesterday. No pictures from that trip developed yet, but I've posted some from previous Vietnam trips in the gallery. Here's one:

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

I work with three people at Ft Sam Houston, TX who served in VN. I'll ask him if they want to share.

If you want to see some fairly currant photos of Viet Nam and S.E. Asia google the word "vincenzooli" and wade through his extensive catalogue. He just returned from there the end of January, and is still uploading from his trip. BTW its my cousin.

Check out Vincenzooli , Thailand 71 & 72 set, when he was in the Air Force.

I hope you will pardon the scans, they are from snapshot size pics from an album and the condition after 40 years isn't great.

These were all shot with a manual Pentax SV, my first 'real' 35mm camera. I tried carrying it with me wherever I went while stationed in Vietnam, Oct '67 thru Oct '68. I had the dubious honor of witnessing the Tet Offensive. The first shot is the barracks next to ours after taking a hit from 122mm rocket. The next is the morning after the initial attack. Things would get fairly quiet during the daylight hours, then start anew after dark. This went on for about 4 days for us, with each successive day/night the activity diminished. This is a squad member we called "John Wayne" for the incredibly dumb things he did while under fire.

The last two are among my favorites. They were taken while strolling about, then, Saigon prior to Tet. I wish I still had the negatives, but I don't know what happened to them.

I talked to one of the veterans I work with and he's willing to share the 300-400 images he has that he took himself.

He wants to know:
1. What are you going to do with them?
2. Anything specific regarding sujbect matter?

In addition to my previous post, the vet with the pics wants to know...

1. Are you a Vietnam vet?
2. What unit were you with?
3. When were you there?

I'm not a Vietnam Vet, though I served in the USAF. Dad flew as AC on C-130 missions into Vietnam.

I will not be copying anyone's photos from forums or other sites.

I'll upload the images to a folder on photobucket and PM the link. I can't do that until tonight and it might take awhile.

Sunset in the Gulf of Tonkin -- 1968

Taken from the deck of USS Ponchatoula (AO-148). 35mm Kodachrome, Petri FT 50mm 1.4. Sure wish I'd owned an MF camera back then, but a poor young sailor's paycheck didn't allow it.
