Has there been any sort of formal announcement from Kodak concerning their continued production of film? IIRC, there was supposed to be information coming from the Photo Marketing Assn. meeting yesterday.

I was somewhat surprised to return from work this early AM with 295 new posts and nary a one about Kodak's commitment to film!

With their huge factory in China which supplies a lot of people who can't afford digital cameras as well as supplying Europe & elsewhere it's hardly likely they're going to close up shop on film while they're still making pots of money from it.

I don't think this is a "Doom and Gloom" type of comment.

PMA is going on now - you would expect most of the major camera/film manufacturers to make some kind of announcement there. Fuji has already made several announcements of film and film based products. So far, it doesn't look like Kodak will announce anything.

Here here Gerald, I wish people would just be positive about there photography. If products go, just get over it, I will.

Not intended as "Gloom and Doom"!

PE said that very GOOD NEWS in the form of some sort of announcement would be forthcoming from Kodak at the big PMA convention and I'm merely asking to be filled in!

I would expect far more posts here at the APUG forums about what's going on at the PMA than there are....

but.....

In the scope of things, as my dear departed Dad used to say,

The information that I published the other day was an excerpt from Mary Jane Hellyar's intended speech (or press release - I don't remember which) at the PMA Sunday. In any event, there has been no further statement in the newspapers here. I would guess that is due to the fact that the pre-release and the actual release don't differ enough to take up space in the paper.
