I am reading a detective story published in 1929 by R Austin Freeman.
The central character is scoffed at for using his pocket camera, and goose neck camera support on a light tripod. Triggered with an Antinous release. Plate cameras were probably the norm for forensic work.
I have never heard of an Antinous release. The search here on Photrio reveals nothing.
Apparently an Antinous Release is a cable release. Made with various fittings for different cameras.
So now you know.
A useless piece of information unless you are into photographic history.
