Exposed a roll of Rollei IR 400 under what were maybe less than optimum circumstances--near dusk and no idea what I was doing aside from the tidbits gleaned from this and other sources. I had a 720 cut off filter and a tripod, arrived at the consensus that six stops own was about right, given the density of the filter, and damn if I didn't get some images on the film (since I ran a series from -6 to -1, few are printable, but still . . .) and I don't know yet if I got any 'real' infrared effects (negs are still hanging) I'm kinda stoked because I was expecting nothing.

...but what are you actually telling us? You've got some printable negs (and that's great) - but in addition to the 'personal' aspects of your technique (ie. -1 to -6) it would have been useful to hear what aperture and exposure time you used. IR 400 and an R 72 filter is a combination that requires exposures requiring a tripod even under intense sunlight. I usually regard it as a '4 ASA' film - and give it
1/4 sec @ f16. Heaven knows what to give it at dusk. '-1 to -6' means nothing to me.
