I recently got an Ansco "1A Advanced" folder.

The shutter speed and aperture markings are quite faded, it is a struggle to figure them out each time.

I may want to restore these in some way, make them more readable, to use, not as a show piece! Any known technique to improve the markings?

Actually, there isn't a whole lot of range here, so a Sunny 16 approach would limit the need for adjustments.
I may get away with a tiny sticker here and there for "everyday" values, corresponding to average light conditions.

A photo of the faded scales might be helpful. Ways to make them more visible may depend on how they were originally made and marked.

as they are agfas, it's black paint in the engavings. you could take a tiny brush and some black paint, apply a bit of paint to the scales and then wipe cautiously the surfaces of the scales. the black paint will remain in the engravings. you can have a try with a black felt marker before applying real paint...
