Hello everyone.

I’ve been a member for about a year, and just recently subscribed. I was motivated to post this because I’ve recently changed both my name (thanks, Sean) and my avatar. It’s still me. I changed my name because I had originally signed up with an anonymous moniker that I use on the internet – “Jorde”. I changed my avatar because several other people were using the same one.

Haven’t posted to the galleries yet, but I will. I’ve been in a bit of a creative funk the past couple of years. But this site, among other things, is bringing me out of it. “Production” will start again soon.

Have always preferred B&W over color, although I always shoot color (slide film!!) on vacation. My vacation pictures look just like everyone else’s who process their film at the drugstore.

Started in high school because a friend was doing it. (As a society, we vastly underestimate peer pressure as a motivator.) Did the journalism thing in college for a bit, and financed college by shooting weddings. Since then (30 years), it has been strictly a hobby.

I shoot 35mm and MF. Learned with a borrowed Zeiss Ikonette (anyone remember those?) I’ve got Pentax Spotmatics, Minolta MF (several), Mamiya C220, Kowa Sixes, and a Fuji GS645. I have “considered” LF …

Friends have suggested I’ve crossed over from photographer to camera collector.:surprised:

I have the luxury of a real darkroom, which makes it more of a shame that I haven’t been very productive lately.

I’m from San Antonio, live in Dallas due to job (federal govt) and will return to SA or thereabouts at retirement.

There it is. Probably more than you wanted to know!

Cheers y’all.

Welcome David, from a long displaced Texan (I was born in San Angelo); my family, except me, lives in Texas. I think I will just stay in Hawai'i. Looking forward to seeing some of your image in the gallery.
