Looks like I have another meter to send off to George at Quality Light Meter. I have a MR-4 meter that sits atop my M2 that I put a 1.35v Wein Cell in about 2-3 months ago. Initially it read spot on with my other meters. I took it out back today to pit it against my recent CLA'd Luna Pro SBC from George and the MR-4 read 250@f11 while the Luna Pro read f5.6. Thinking the Luna Pro SBC may be at fault I took the F2A out and metered the same place(grass) and it read the same as the Luna Pro at 5.6.

I figured the Wein cell had gone bad already and took it out to measure the voltage..spot on at 1.37v. Something else must be awry in the meter for it to have read two spots under the other two meters. I double checked to be sure all meters were set to ASA 400 and they were. Having the proper voltage I have no idea what's wrong so, I may have to call George for a fix...always something.

Very true. He did an admirable job on my Luna Pro SBC. I talked with him today and it's going to him tomorrow.I'll probably get him to recalibrate with the 1.5v battery instead of those air cell batteries.

Interesting.

I wonder if the person you are dealing with has any connection with George Milton at Quality Light Metric in Hollywood, CA?

I thought it was Quality Light Meter, Co? Yep, that's George. That's where I sent my last meter. Meter makes more sense.

Wait a minute-I'm confused. His address I sent it to before was Los Angeles.

From an email I exchanged with him in 2012:

Dear Mr. King,
Please send your meters for check and evaluation.
Charge for service and calibration vary between 58.00 to 88.00 depend of problem and parts, plus shipping.

Sincerely,
George Milton Mgr.

that's the same address I sent my last meter to except it was LA-not Hollywood. It got there just the same. That's the address I was given. Are those not two separate cities?

Hollywood is a city in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, but the Post Office is still Los Angeles. I hope that clears it up for you.

Hollywood is a city in the Los Angeles metropolitan area,

Hollywood is a district in the City of Los Angeles. George will get your meters addressed either way. Another +1 for Quality Light Metric, they've always done a great job for me.

George told me yesterday that typically with the Leica meters was the circuit board becoming corroded somewhat. Whatever the problem I'm sure he'll find it and put it back in shape again.

I talked to them yesterday about a light meter for a Tessina. I was sure that no one has parts for Selenium light meters and I was right. No joy for this one.

Selenium went by the way side long ago best I recall in favor of CdS cells which are not as good in the long haul as Silicon Photo cells.

My Master II does a great job so I'll live with the shortcomings for the most part. Since the cell has been replaced it'll likely outlast me.

I had Sover replaced the old CdS cells in my F2A a few weeks back. I feel relatively sure they will outlast me no doubt.
