Congratulations Geoff. I looked at this on the auction site earlier on today and thought it looked to be a very fair price indeed. Hope you have great enjoyment from it!

Nice!

The price is not "good", it's "bargain"!

I've had my 5x7" Traditional for a few years now, and it's a great camera. Your half-plate is just a little bit larger, I can tell from the pictures.
I use 90mm f:8 Super-Angulon, 120mm f:6.8 Angulon, 121mm f:8 Super-Angulon, 150mm f:4.5 Apo-Lanthar, 150mm f:9 Germinar-W, 165mm f:6.8 Angulon, 180mm, 210mm, 240mm and 300mm f:5.6 Symmars, a 210mm f:6.1 Xenar, and a 355mm f:9 G-Claron on my 5x7". The 90, 165 and 240 seem to get the most use.

Thanks for the replies.

It was a bit of an impulse buy I must say but the 10x8 is sometimes so much work. I am hoping the 7x5 will still retain the sheer pleasure I get through looking at a large image on the back. My 5x4 has been all but redundant since I bought the larger format.

Regarding enjoyment Peter, your comment made me think a little more about what I want from it. I guess if I can get 100 images that I really like from it over the rest of my or the cameras lifetime then I will have enjoyed it. Is that a reasonable expectation or overly optimistic?. A guitarist I saw live once ( perhaps Richard Thompson) said that every new guitar has at least 1 new tune in it which is a winner; after that it is a shared relationship and responsibility. I am sure it is the same with a camera.

Ole thanks for the lens tips. For the time being I will use my 240 Sironar unti
I get something wider and smaller. Yes the price did seem very very reasonable.

Soeren my warring days are long past. its a small planet but I will make one concession to prevent this war escalating. In true british diplomatic style, and to prevent further attrition, I will exchange both my Gandolfi Traditional 10x8 and 7x5 for a Koenigsegg CCX 2006 from the Scandinavian countries.

Such a small price to pay for harmony :D:D

Hi Ole

I got a 210 Symmar S and took the beast out at the weekend. Mike ( who I bought the camera from ) is sending me more lens holders and I will soon mount my 90 super angulon. I want to do some close up work and fancy a 300 Symmar or Symmar s. You list a Schneider 300mm as a lens you use - does the Copal 3 fit easily into the throat of your camera or is it very tight?

I have attached one of the (cropped) images of mud flats at Steart Point Somerset from these first images as evidence of baptism.

Thanks
Geoff
