I’m in the market for a new Sony that I can convert to infrared and use for portaits/animal portraits as well as occasional landscapes. I’d like to spend as little as possible, but wondering if there’s a significant step up in the animal eye af going from an a73 to a74. What about the a7r3? More pixels would be nice, but animal af is the primary concern.

I’ve been advised that af should be unaffected by the conversion. I know that the a7r’s rudimentary af works fine on mine.

I’m probably doing a full spectrum conversion so I will have lots of options to choose from in finding one or more wavelength that works for these portraits.

Basically, I just need to know how eye af and animal eye af compare between the a7iii and iv
