Anew member needs some help!

I have a R5 Leica body and a 35-70 lens.I just bought a Metz flash.When i put the flash on i have to set a specific program or speed before shooting?

there should be some kind of auto mode, my metz has red blue and something. there is a scale to help find correct apeture, then put the camera tyo the correct speed, usually around 1\60 and shoot.
