This video is from Newswears website (they make great bags and pouches etc), showing photojournalists at work in the pressroom from back in the 1980's. What a different world it was then.

the correct term is "analog pre-press print processor" - because that was too long, when busy, they called it other names.

It's funny about the hair dryer...I used to have mine hooked up to a 2ft section of clothes
dryer vent hose that perfectly fit kindermann 35 reels, with a bolt across the bottom
to hold them in during drying. I'd clamp the hair dryer to the edge of the counter and let the
hose hang down with the reels inside. Sometimes though, on a tight deadline, I scanned negs
when they were still wet! lol.
