Not sure if that's the one you're talking about, but there it is.

I'll be up in the Shinjuku area raiding the camera shops in the next week or so myself. There's a HUGE Yodobashi in Yokohama now that I swing through frequently (it's, like, on the way to my house from the station), but it doesn't stock much LF stuff, so Shinjuku it is!

Pellicle ... you really need do a shopping trip over here ...

If you are in Tokyo and want to get in touch with those who do this sort of photography, you should visit PGI in Shibaura. It is a little difficult to find the gallery, but if you go there, talk to Nishimaru-san who runs a Japanese site on alternative processes.

Well ... I finally did it ...

Not sure if this is the place to post this, but at least it's not OT.

So I ventured up to Shinjuku yesterday and snagged me a 4x5 Tachihara and a Fujinon W 150 f/5.6 lens ... plus a few film holders, etc.

Here she is! (Click the thumb for a proper look ... don't shoot me for shooting the Tachihara with my Leica M8 ... not much light ... not much DOF).

Hello from a German in Japan (Sapporo), living here for more than 4 years. LF photography sounds tempting, especially in this country ... I usually use either a (film) Leica or MF (Hasselblad or Rolleiflex). Interested in your results with the Tachihara !

Hi Pellicle,

The camera was 79,000 JPY I think, and the lens was around 65,000 JPY. So that's a total of about 144,000 JPY, which translates to approximately 922 Euro at the current rate. Or 1,452 USD.

I was going to shop around for used lenses, but I figured I might as well make my first LF kit entirely new. Kinda glad I did.

So now I'm just waiting on the weather ... and a break from work ... but boy am I itching to get out and start shooting with the thing.

Hi,

Sapporo would be a great place for LF photography I think! You have some classic architecture in the cities, the ports, and some beautiful nature as well. In fact, that's one place I really want to visit for a photographic expedition one of these days.
