Andy K, my good man, are you saying that every spelling but the original English spelling is incorrect? Do you maintain that English spelling and usage is still stuck back in the English of Chaucer or is otherwise incorrect? Please further enlighten us poor ignorant colonials.

I have also found it interesting here in the states, we seem to have:

Montanian English
Texas English
Californian English
Louisiana English
etc.
etc.

And now we have Spanglish....have not quite figured that one out yet,

And after spending a few days with Les Mclean and his friend, I heard another couple of types of english, one they said was Northern English and the other said his was correct and said it was Southern english!

Yes I am. Unless the spelling was updated by the English, in England, and not by a foreigner.

I don't think that linking our work with APUG and its principles, and dedication to traditional photography would necessarily infer some sort of approval by Sean or any of the members here. I certainly could use the PPA logo on my work if I chose to... and I have never considered submitting my work to them for approval or anything else.

The integrity of the information would depend solely on the bent and values of the photographer. At the same time, anyone violation the principles could be booted form APUG (no change from the present) and would forfeit his/her legal claim to the Logo's usage.

What about it, Sean/ anyone else... good idea or what?

One of the brightest and nicest loupes to be had is to use a 50mm camera lens for 35mm with the front element facing the eye. The magnification will, I have been told, be about 7x. A 50mm 1.4 lens is hard to beat for brightness. A 50mm 2.8 enlarging lens works well also.

Claire. Thank you so much for this bit of advice. I tried my 50mm 2.8 lens out on my latest roll of 35mm. It made a big difference to the amount of detail I could see. Much appreciated.

if you were to identify the process on the back of the matt, rather than use some phrase that NO ONE outside this forum understands (Analog or Analoge), why not just use the description that most curators in museums around the world use. Gelatin Silver Print. They have done the work for us no point in re-inventing the wheel.

In the end, Lee's probably right. For now I'm going to write on the back of my prints and mounts; Gelatin Sliver Print - Hand Made By Artist - !00% Non-Digital.

That about sums up everything that's important to me.

The problem with that, as I see it, is it sounds defensive. There's no need to mention what it is not.

By the way, I take the extra step of drymounting a label on the back of each of my prints, explaining that it is an archivally processed silver gelatin print, handmade by me. I also provide a certificate of print authenticity for each purchaser, listing the date the image was made, as well as the date the print was made.
