I used to use glass bottles with metal caps. I found that a number of them began corroding. I had to use pliers to get them off the bottle. So, beware. And, some metals can harm photochemicals.

YES!

Many of mine had separated top from sides so some of them were easy to remove!

It's also a darn good reason not to drink Corona. The lime doesn't help the taste much.

OTOH, Newcastle brown ale is not bad at all and comes in clear bottles.

And, I think Newcastle Brown may even have some staining effects on the negs.

My favourite local lab and museum of camera equipment (I say this because they have tonnes of old photo gear all priced WAY above anything I've ever seen so I'm pretty sure they just want to hold on to it) usually save up a pile of odds and ends that turn up from their store room or are dropped off by other customers who simply don't require said object anymore - I've picked up some amber glass bottles there and, though I don't think they're crucial, they certainly have a nice weight about them and are just generally nicer to handle than plastic......to state the obvious.

So yeah, I'd say ask around locally - shipping glass bottles is annoying - particularly as they're not a very valuable item to begin with.

If you have to store your developer in the bathroom or some other place like this, then amber bottles will be the best choice for you. You can get them from your local chemist else you can order it online also.

The local wine supply place has Plastic caps that fit SOME bottles - including the most common Gallon Jugs. I keep a bag of each size and replace any caps that look like they are wearing. The better caps have a poly cone instead of a paper gasket.
