4x5?

If I had to guess I would think the images were made with a 4x5 camera (or, 5x4 as they say "over the pond") on maybe Ektachrome by a newspaper photographer. The images seem to be made with a single flash (like a news photog and his 4x5 Graphic and handheld single flash). If the photog was not a newspaper "ink stained wretch" doing his thing in the usual way then I'd have to say the photo was kind of lazy or hurried so s/he could not do a proper job with the lighting. That said, one oif the secrets in celeb photograph is access and I give the photog aces for that. Be there and F11.

I see that Jim figured out how to spice the cooking up :}

We had a similar experience. There was a ton of Orange Sunshine floating around that Owsley had brewed up in 1,000,000 batches (at $3 a tab in 1967), an unoccupied room, and lots of pastel sticks....,you can imagine the rest. My best friend was also evicted (everyone is a lousy art critic!), but my trompe l'oeil of a painting leaning against a wall was so realistic that the building manager tried to pick it up several times before he figured out that it was simply painted on the wall. Ah, those were the days! Who knew how crappy things would turn out. Think I'll roll one up and start complaining about the good old days.

I saw Jimmy Hendricks play at a gig the first time he came to England before he was famous at a pub in Ilkley called The Cow And Calf .

The Cow and Calf at Ilkley is country pub in a one horse town https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=...+and+Calf+Ilkley&gs_l=img.1.5.0l3j0i8i30l3j0I wish I could remember what year it was, the article doesn't say, a lady in the article says her children didn't believe her neither do mine, it really was the good old days when you could book Jimmy Hendricks to do a gig for £50 ($75 U.S) a night.
