I just spent the long week-end helping to frame up and put up a show at PhotoCentral in Hayward. About 75 prints. I have about 25 prints in it -- carbon prints and platinum prints.

A Revival of 19th Century Photography

New (and not so new) work by Kate Jordahl, Brian Taylor, Vaughn Hutchins and the
Foothill College Experimental Photo Class

Opening: Saturday, June 12, 2010, 5 pm - 8 pm

More info: Dead Link Removed

There is also a new show upstairs -- the results of 20 years of documenting the Festas...

Holy Ghost: Portuguese Festas in the Spirit of Queen Isabel

Photographs by Jackson Nichols

A great show, even if they are "only" silver gelatin prints...

I hope to see some APUGgers there at the opening!

Vaughn

PS: I will be giving a carbon printing workshop at PhotoCentral in September, 18th and 19th, 2010

Yea, Foothill! My old school!

DANG! When it rains it pours. I'll try and stop by after the Brian Taylor gum demonstration at the 291 Gallery in S.F. and my (first) PF contemporary gum bichromate just arrived. Coincidence or fate?

Terry

It was a lot of fun hanging Brian's work -- pretty amazing! Hope to see you there! I'll be the tall hairy one with glasses.

Paul -- not only would you get to see carbon prints in person, but you'll get to see a carbon printer person :D

Aww. I grew up in Castro Valley... but living up in Seattle now.

Its nice hearing about photography down there.

Geir and Kate Jordahl ( Dead Link Removed ) found out that the Hayward Area Rec District (HARD) had a darkroom they were going to scrap, so they approached HARD about starting a photo program. So for the last 27 years, Geir and Kate have been running a photo program -- public darkroom, classes, workshops and gallery. The entire photo facility was remodeled recently...very impressive. I am taking a one day workshop in making digital negs from Kate this Saturday, then will be at the show opening in the evening.

Looking forward to finally meeting you, I'll look for the bike-clip around your right ankle.

Vaughn,
Great show! Great carbon prints! It was a fantastic Alt Process weekend.
Is your September Carbon workshop booked up?

Terry

Officially, the workshop is not yet open for registration -- I believe it will not be until August -- if you put you name and email on the list that was at the opening, then you will emailed when the registration begins. let me know if you were not, and I'll gwt you on that list!
