or the ones for the mamiya 1000s?
I don't know why, but I thought you were referring here to the Mamiya 1000 DTL 35mm SLR.
Which did take an S76 silver oxide battery.

My order of 100 Energizer Industrial AA batteries arrived today from the eBay seller. That was fast. Where are these made? Singapore. I looked at my box of Energizer Industrial AAA batteries. They are made in Germany. The problematic Kirkland AAs are made in the U.S. of "foreign and domestic" materials. I suppose that many things made in the U.S. are from foreign and domestic materials. Tires come to mind. They must all have some natural rubber and I don't think any of that substance is produced domestically. I will put tge new AAs to use right away. Incidentally, I also have a Maglite flashlight with two AAs stuck inside. My inclination is to drill into them (one at a time) and try to extract them with an easy out bit. I could also send it to a friend who has the tools to get them out more easily. Would spraying in some WD-40 first be helpful?

I've had so many alkaline batteries leak, even from the big brands, I've pretty much given up on using them in anything that matters. AA or AAA can usually be replaced by Eneloop-style rechargeables. If you can find a low self-discharge NiMH battery labelled 'made in Japan', it is apparently made in the same FDK factory as Eneloop-branded batteries, using similar or identical chemistry, but will usually be cheaper. Mine are Fujitsu and Ikea branded batteries, with specs equivalent to Eneloop Pro.

For cameras that take stacked LR44s, I've mostly switched to 1/3N (2L76) lithiums.

I had that happen with a 3xD Maglite w/ Duracells. I sent the Maglite to Duracell and got back a $40 check and a letter of apology.

Energizer (IIRC) had an ad wherein they boasted they had replaced a customer's Nikon F5 because the batteries leaked. The subtext I got was "Our batteries wrecked a $2,000 camera - let us do that for you."
