Kodak announced Ektachrome films
a year ago ! Many people are waiting for releasement soon.
Meanwhile Aliens arrived and noticed the desperately need of new films ?

Look at this here :


Revolog is a new series of films.
If you want to have special effects without using software - use revolog
special effect films ?

Then you may have a surprice after developing :

Your beloved cat is transformed.....?

But this is just the begining.

Have a look on Tesla :

But don't be affraid - there are much
more films from Revolog.

this effect since he was in college.....long before Independence Day.

I would keep shooting this film the results are interesting.
 
What's the point? I can get the same effect by putting my film through the airline hold baggage scanner.

The question with effects on film like revolog is the framing...?

But how could we live without Aliens ?

I realy may not say - but some like it..
The question to me is to create an effect
analogue.
There might be effects from filter (on the lens). There might be effects from special
emulsions

like Kodak Aerochrome :

And there might be other methods to have effects (without software)

That should be corect macfred. It makes no real sense to argue about taste.
On the other hand - to have the "right" taste is a central key to good photography.
What we often forget is : " This key lays allways in the hand of the observer"..

An other alternate to special effects is the simple unsharpness. In combination with long time exposure it might makes sense (sometimes ) ...... :
But let's see what the different makes
to effect films : Revolog "lazer"

I prefer to do this kind of stuff myself with double exposures. Shoot a roll of lights/ink/macro etc. and double over it. Much more fun that using some overpriced ready-made film, and much more unpredictable and interesting I think. Examples I've done:

This was flipped lens macro of ink in water, with light source from the side.



And this was actually a triple exposure (hence the grain...). Macro of a piece of bismuth and something else.

 

That should be the right response to Aliens - with such methods we might
avoid an invasion.
More of such methods and Aliens will surrender. Thank you much to show us your workflow Arbitrarium.
It is a bit different from so called "sandwich" method I know. And of course
I have to say : Very Impressive

PS : By the time to avoid missunderstandings - the example of
Michael Weslay isn't from Revolog Films.
It is from extreme long time exposure

Are Kodak's current issues with 120 backing paper really just an alien code that we are all misinterpreting?

The Revolog products are interesting, but most of these effects are probably best done with Photoshop (or even better, not done at all). I do tend to like some of the false color emulsions. I find that Lomography Torquise gives everything a "martian" look than can be appealing - Their "Purplechrome" film, however, just makes everything look like brown mush.
