Alec Soth is one of my favorite photographers, so I pulled together three of his video interviews.

All three are really good and in the last one he talks about why he uses film cameras, specifically an 8x10.

Altogether, I think there are 10 minutes here.

They are posted on my blog.

I saw work from his Paris/Minnesota project on Monday at ArtChicago. The book was very fine, of course. But the prints were absolutely stunning. -Laura

I had no idea who he was and his website is blocked as explicit. So is Jim Galli's. I will have to go home and look, with the lights off and after the kids go to bed, just like I have to do with Jim's. Don't ya just love firewalls.

So, not wanting to be the completely uncultured heathen I went looking for other ways to see images. I found some neat stuff but this article is great. It is from January of this year

I love this paragragh
"In the back seat of the van was his constant companion: a complex and fussy R.H. Phillips and Sons 8x10 Compact camera, a relic of the late '80s that opens like an accordion. The contraption sits on a tripod strong enough to hold a small child; the negatives cost $20 a piece and capture incredible detail and color."

Oh my god the LATE '80s. :D:D:D:D:D

Thanks for bringing him to my attention David

His work is excellent, and for awhile he had a great blog, but he stopped posting, and now it seems to have vanished into the netherworld. Thanks for posting the interviews, David. Good to have them all in one place!!
