Hello everyone, I have encountered a problem and wonder if anyone could confirm my suspicions as to what the cause might be, or if anyone has an alternative explanation. I have experienced clear spots on two different rolls of film developed in XTOL on a rotary machine, the spots look identical, but these are two different emulsions. I conclude that an error in manufacturing is unlikely. I haven't had these problems when developing using hand inversion, so I suspect that the switch to rotary processing is the problem. I think the undeveloped spots are probably air bubbles, has anyone had this issue and can confirm it from the attached picture?
Regards, Julien Rodewald

EDIT:
I seem to have found another possible culprit, there was some light seal gunk on one roller in the film back, that would explain why the marks so neatly align vertically. That seems a more likely cause, right?

These spots do not look at all like being bubble induced.
Instead like patches of debris settled on the emulsion.

Remarkable is their location in a kind of band parallel to one side.

Edit:
I just saw your added remark. My observation then makes perfect sense.

Thanks, good to know that's not what they look like. I also favour the gunk on the roller I discovered after posting to be the likeliest explanation.
