AgfaPhoto CT Precisa 100 discontinued?

B&H says it is discontinued, Maco has it out of stock, Wikipedia states it was discontinued at the beginning of this year (dead link for the reference...), sigh adieu "cheap" slide film

AgfaPhoto has lost almost all their films. I'm not sure if they are still in business anymore.

They might be in the process of switching to a different supplier. As fuji kept raising the price of precisa the last few years, i am sure they were already looking for alternatives.

It was my first thought when i heard about ektachrome's relaunch. Some (or a lot, if you think of all the drugstores agfaphoto was giving film to) rebadged e100 would be good to keep kodak's production lines spinning.

Of course AgfoPhoto are still in business, as evidenced by their website and their non-film products being available all over.

However it is clear that Fuji stopped manufacturing colour film for them...so no Vista Plus and CT-Precisa. The "APX" B&W films are still available widely, I believe they are made for AgfaPhoto by Harman.

It's Lupus Imaging & Media, the company who's been re-selling Fuji stuff as Agfa. According to the Lupus website they also sell Agfa branded memory cards and flash drives...

Lupus? What a great name for a company. Not. Reminds me a lab that I use on occasion in Singapore: ALS. Really, you'd name your company ALS?

I think APUG member Europan was the one hinting heavily at the start of the year that the game was up for Precisa. He got some negative comments here for that but I'm happy I heeded those words.

I know, but was it leven listed before?
In all their shops I know it still is in heaps and at the regular price! The same for their competitor.

AgfaPhoto Holding and Lupus are affiliated. Lupus does thev actual marketing and AgfaPhoto re-licence the brand. It is unclear whether Lupus is not just an offspring of AgfaPhoto Holding.

I've just been to the DM store next to Munich central station and it's gone. Even its place in the shelf is gone. They do have Vista 200 and 400 in stock, though.

I mentioned a few month ago that an online shop listed it as discontinued with the last stock being sold. But it was quite sudden for DM to delist it from their website. I have some left but want to get a little more. It's such a cheap way to use slide. Tri-X is nearly the same price, now.

Have to check the store near my home and buy what they have left, if any.

Agfa Photo after its split from parent Agfa-Gevaert was organised into a manufacturing company and a holdings company with rights to use the Agfa Photo name and red dot logo for consumer photographic products. (a licence granted by Agfa Gevaert at the time of their split). Following the demise of its own manufacturing company and its facility at Leverkusen in 2005 these rights were sub licensed by the holding company to Lupus Imaging & Media.

Fuji have been contract coating the colour films since 2009 (Ferrania being the previous supplier). This contract was widely reported to have ceased earlier this year e.g; https://www.japancamerahunter.com/2...la-vista-baby-another-fan-fav-takes-dirt-nap/

Hence all the fuji produced color products; Vista Plus 200/400 and CT Precisa are now FINAL STOCK. CT precisa is largely out of stock at retailers as are the multipacks of Vista, and in some places the 400 singles. Its not known if Lupus will be able to source a new supplier as realistically for colour film that only leaves Kodak, who already supply Lomography. I think its been suggested that both Kodak and Fuji are reluctant to offer contract coating now, presuambly as its seen to undermine their own sales.

Agfa Photo branded, Black and White films are still available, as as others have said these are currently produced by Harman/Ilford.

Almost. the split was between the consumer Products - including the rights to use the AgfaPhoto Name, the Plant in Leverkusen Germany was transfered to the Spin-off. The Main Agfa-Gevaert Plant in Belgum remained with AG. Spin off was reorganized, and decided that the Leverkusen property was worth more as real estate than as a factory. Agfa-Gevaert was unsuccessful in an attempt to get the use of the Agfa Photo back.

the re-organized Agfa Photo is a trademark licensing business, and different products under that name are made under licence. Lupus Imaging & Media, has a licence from Agfa Photo to sell Film and Memory cards under the Agfa Photo name. they have been having retail pacgaged film made forthem on a priiivate label basiis, by Fuji for the colour products (a deal which has now apparently ended) and Harman/Ilford for the current B&W products.

NO contract Coating is involved as Lupus does not have any way to convert or package film. the deal with Fuji was identical in scope to the way that drug store chains used to have their own brand film produced by firms like Fuji.

Agfa-Gevaert is still around but only sells Industrial products, mostly for the medical and printing and Publishing industries.

Is this a public company or a private one? Any idea how large a company it is compared to when they were a film manufacturer?

Browsing the AGFA site, this is their explanation of Agfa vs Agfa Photo : (in the FAQ section)

agfa and Agfa Photo are not related in any way...

Both wrong.
The real estate was not part of the sale, and Agfa-Gevaert still own that AgfaPhoto brand. However they could not evade that licence agreement with AgfaPhoto Holding and as such that brand got lost for own use.

However, the Agfa brand lost its value to young consumers anyway, as they hardly can begin something with it...

What's the deal with Japan Camera Hunter Streetpan ? Supposedly based off an Agfa-Gevaert surveillance film. Do Agfa still make this, is it old stock, or has someone like Foma copied it to sell as Streetpan ?

Agfa-Gevaert still produces photographic film, but it is not sold to consumers. For example their aviation film "Agfa Aviphot" is repurposed by the people who own the Rollei name and sold as Rollei Retro 400S....by rating at 400ISO and over developing they turned the aviation film into a nice photo film but it cannot be sold under the Agfa name.

It is entirely possible that the JCH streetpan is an older Agfa film that Agfa-Gevaert is still manufacturing.
