Looking to buy Agfapan APX 25 in 35mm or 120. Curious to what's out there & how much?

Didn't production of Agfa films stop?

APX25 stopped a few years before that, one of the chemicals used in the emulsion went out of production and sales weren't high enough to justify re-formulating the emulsion. It was a fantastic film I mainly used it in a 6x9 roll film back as a back up on long days out with my 5x4 Wista.

I have an unopened case of 35mm 36-exp rolls.
Email me if interested ATS at smart dot net.

I'm in Maryland south of Baltimore.
Are you close enough we could meet rather than shipping it?

I can't comment on the differences between APX25 and RPX25, I never used any APX films. But RPX25 is still in production and is a really lovely film. Argentix.ca (one of the board sponsors) sells it. Just something to keep in the back of your mind if you have a hard time getting the APX supply you're looking for.

Ian,

What is RPX 25 like in your view compared to Pan F?

Tom

It lacks the tonality I require, what's important from my perspective is that images I've made whether 35mm (hardly use these days) , MF or LF, can sit coherently on in an Exhibition set. That means developing and printing a variety of films to achieve similar tonal ranges.

So I'd shoot APX25 in a 6x9 RF back alongside APX100 or Tmax 100 5x4, sometime EFKE Pl 25 as well. These days I need to match to Delta 100, & 400 (120 only) and HP5 and can do that with Fomapan 100 & 200. I prefer not to mix brands but sometimes it's local availability so Foma is my back up and I stick to Ilford for my main projects.

I'm bringing Pan F back into the e mix to replace APX25 although I rarely use my roll film back these days, instead I've grown to like the square 6x6 format and carry a TLR instead of my Leica M3 when shooting LF 5x4 and occasionally 10x8 and more recently 7x5.

I remember Pan F Plus giving very good results when I last used it, but never fully investigated as was interested in the extra speed of Delta 100 at the time.

Tom

I can just say Delta 100 is a great film in all important aspects - grain, tonality, contrast.

Pan F surely could be used at ISO 25 with a fine grain developer as Perceptol, isn't this a viable alternative?

Just checked. I still have 7 rolls of 35mm APX25, that i probably never use anymore. Experation date is 2001. Please give me a PM if you're interested in taking them.

i have 300 rolls of 120 NIB in factory-sealed cases of 100 rolls each, expired July 2005.
Also have maybe 50 loose rolls of 120.
This has been kept in a cool basement, but not refrigerated or frozen.

Email me at ATS at SMART dot NET if interested.

My earlier comments about having some 35mm were incorrect (brain fade).

Wow - I have some 30 rolls of APX 25 in 120 in my freezer and thought, this might be quite a lot ... But 300+ is quite a substantial stack.

Just to update this...

Price for loose rolls is $5.00 each plus shipping. Full case quantities (100 rolls) are lower $$.

Compare this with $11.49 per roll for Rollei RPX 25 at B&H.

Leigh, is the APX25 still available?

Thanks,
Chris
