I read an article on Unblinking Eye about double toning of the prints. I would like to try this, but the only brown toner that I can get is Agfa's Viradon. Now would this one work the same as the Kodak's Brown Toner?

Which combination would you use?
Viradon is a polysulfide developer, so it should work OK with selenium and gold.

Viradon + selenium (paterson) work well.
haven;t tried gold though.

Seems like original Viradon WAS a mixture of a poly-sulfide toner and selenium...

So it was... I'm on the final bottle now. Unbeatable combination.

If you can get sodium selenide, I guess so. I think the reason the selenium disappeared from the (New! Improved!) Viradon is due to a rather hazardous production procedure...

In other words: Don't try it unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Marko, try to get Kodak Brown Toner (KBT) or Tetenal brown toner. Agfa Viradon New is similar to KBT (not the same - you may expect a little different color).
I have done some double toning so far.
If you have any questions, you may write me directly.

Tim Rudman,s Toning book will save you the cost of both materials and mental anguish.

I would use it the way you would use KBT with KRST to make a poly-toner. I did this with a homebrew IPI-toner which is just a borax-buffered polysulfide-solution and this works very well. It gives aubergine/cold browns on Agfa MCP after a minute and just a tint of eggplant on Ilford MGIV RC after 3 min.

You can't do much wrong as long as you take usual care and precautions, i.e. gloves, good ventilation, no drinking/eating/smoking untill finished.

best
