How good is this paper? There is an auction running on for RRS, RRN and RRN and I presume they are fixed grade.

If prints don't go good then looking forward to lith it.

The comment "if it's still good" is quite relevant, my experience is it hasn't lasted, it went out of production quite a few years ago. All my stock was useless at least 5 years ago and would have been from the last batches. Other papers have not deteriorated stored the same way.

I still use some Brovira from the 1970s but the RR and Portriga from those days didn't last nearly as well. Storage was not special, in house in temperate climate, occasionally hot for a few days. The paper in question here probably isn't as old, of course.

There are 200 sheets of total in four unopened boxes. I decided not to watch it, instead looking for Patent Etui. What a beautiful looking plate camera it is...

It WAS a wonderful paper with special qualities the cream base, warm tone and toned very nicely. I think production stopped in the late 1990s or early 2000s when one of the chemicals, cadmium, was banned.

The Brovira in general was in quite good shape although was probly around 40 years old. However, the Record Rapid was really badly base fogged. Probably younger than the Brovira judging by the packaging. All the papers were stored in the same darkroom. This is not to say that if stored in better conditions Record Rapid wouldn't print better.

But........ it was great for lith printing. I've attached a screengrab from a pdf I put together when I was testing the papers at the beginning of the project. RR on the left hand side. Though as tedr1 points out above, the last batches had Cadmium removed so don't know if this paper was from earlier batches. (Expect it probably was). Though I still have the packaging if anyone is good at dating Agfa batch numbers.

This was the final result of the participant who used the RR. Am amazed how he lith developed nine sheets together!

When I worked in a camera store, I had professional customers who preferred Record Rapid Glossy to any other brand of glossy paper. Just as we were building a clientele for it, Agfa quit importing it into the USA. After that we only sold Agfa DW papers and Kodak/Anscp/GAF glossy papers.. Most professional customers stayed with Kodak/Ansco DW papers also. (Opal/Ektalure/Indiatone/Ardura) They did like Ansco Cykora SW Glossy which was similar to Agfa Record Rapid, but not the same..........Regards!
